Copper/brown color ;medium-sized, white head. The aroma of toffies, malt, and bread. Sweet, malty taste with notes of bread and dark fruits . Light, hoppy bitterness in the finish.

Faust never disappoints. Very unique beer in this style, probably and little more fruity than the rest. The result is superb.
Perfect balance in sweetness and dryness, roasty malts and rich flavor. Definitely a classic!

Decanted from a 16.9 oz (500 ml) into a conical pint glass.
A: Pours a basically clear, copper color with rapid, two plus finger, wheat colored head formation, cap/rim retention, but little or no lacing.
S: Aromas of caramel, raisin, and walnut. Understated and subtle.
T: Semisweet. Flavors largely follow the nose, although really more molasses then caramel on the caramelization side. Light, or at least very balanced, bitterness.
M: Light to medium bodied with robust tapering to no more than moderate carbonation.
O: A drinkable and enjoyable Doppelbock, but with so choices, I probably will not be back for this one.

Clear brown colored beer with a small tan colored head.
Smells sweet and nutty with a big baked bread yeast aroma. Smells both fruity and nutty, mostly plum, fig and pecan. Mildly woody with a faint soy sauce scent.
Starts out mlidly sweet with the taste of fig and nuts. Neutral in sweetness and bitterness, perfectly balanced. Maybe a slight soy sauce flavor here but I am really looking for the glutamate flavor fault in any Bock beer. Alcohol level completely undetected. Little bit of toffee candy but this is a really well balanced Bock.
Mouthfeel is good.
Overall the sum is more than the parts here. Pretty close to the style definition for the beer style with no deviations of any kind.

(500 ml flip-top bottle, code 820011097534 - poured into an Innis & Gunn fluted goblet)
L: remarkably-clear, tawny liquid with a slight gradient to a lighter amber at the glass bottom... sudsy foam pops up on the pour but it runs for the hills, though it slows down, leaving at least a dumpy pad for a moment, before breaking apart in the middle... no lace
S: incredibly mute aromas, with only a mild dark bready, caramel-kissed malt fragrance... perhaps a very delicate floral note from the hops, if not, the alcohol... not the slightest bit of booziness
T: malt decay? malt ruins? - this beer is in the midst of falling apart... as it sits out, it improves - light caramel, light molasses - really a subdued yet pleasantly-rich malt meat, with maybe light tingle of phenolic spice in the finish... very little bitterness at this point
F: thin in the back end, at first... ends up having a soft, lightly silky body... feels a bit cracked on the edges, but it's comfy enough
O: I can only guess that this is just old - the store where I bought it has a large beer selection, but I seldom see much traffic... it's really not all that bad once it gets to 55-60 F - I would let it sit out even up to an hour before pouring

Pours a slightly murky dark ruby-amber. Head dissipates quickly leaving a slight layer of foam on the top.
Smells sticky sweet. Notes of toffee, bread and crandberries, with lots of dried fruits (prunes, raisons, cherries). A bit of alcohol and a hint of roast. Kind of cloying and one-dimensional, though the dried fruit is interesting.
Sweet on the palate, a bit boozy and quite bready. Has a strong flavor of dried and cooked fruits – baked apples, stewed prunes, dates. Some fruity yeast esters, mild grassy hops, corn syrup. Becomes a bit nutty as the glass warms.
Medium-bodied, smooth and crisp, with medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is very appropriate for the style and definitely the most drinkable aspect of this beer.
Good thing this comes in a swing-top bottle, allowing me to drink it in increments – this beer is pretty cloying with its sweetness. Not a terrible doppelbock, and I do like the dark fruits that come through, but it could use a lot more balance. This is a far cry from the quality of their dunkelweizen.

It's a little one sided with the sweetness. But it is flavorful, and still decent.

Pours a beautiful amber-mohagony color, with a very froth medium sized head, still coating the glass with thick lacing after collapsing.
Smells of wood bark, wrapped up by a flowery quality and marzipan, supported by a note of toffee. Bread defined malts blend harmonious into the profound wood bark quality, with a syrupy sweet note on top, creating a very fulfilling nose.
Drinks dangerously easy, with a soft, medium carbonation, while producing enough body to hide the alcohol perfectly, instead the beer produces a pleasant warmth after the swallow.
Taste mirrors the nose, by producing an intriguing mixture between earthy malts and luscious toffee, enhanced by a pleasant wooden note. The beers sweetness turns stronger by evoking molasses, balanced by walnut nutshells covered in the earthy taste foundation. Finishes with a soft carbonation, molasses and a soft aqueous note, while the beers earthiness mellows the overall sweetness.
Very rustic, versatile beer, still including the classic Doppelbock sweetness, completed by a very smooth, soft mouthfeel.

I picked up a bottle of Brauhaus Faust-Miltenberger's Faust Doppelbock a couple weeks ago for $3.99 at The lager Mill. It's been a little while since I've had a Doppelbock and since this is the first time I've seen this brewery around I thought I should take chance on it, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date. Poured from a brown 16.9 oz fliptop bottle into a snifter.
A- The label looks ok, it's got an old school look to it and I don't think it's too eye catching. It poured a nice and fairly clear mahogany color that took on more of a brighter ruby amber color when held to the light with almost two fingers worth of tan head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left hardly any lacing behind. This was a nice looking beer, but I wish it had better lacing.
S- The aroma starts off with a high amount of sweetness that had a candied sugar like aroma to it and with a fruity apple, dark fruit and pear aromas being the first to show up and there might also be just a hint of banana coming through. Up next comes the alcohol which has a slight nail polish like aroma and it followed by the malts which impart some sweet malt, bready, caramel and toffee like aromas. This beer had a decent aroma, but it was very sweet and I could have gone without the light nail polish like aspect.
T- The taste seems to be similar but lighter than the aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness that has a slight candied sugar like flavor to it with the fruits still being the first to show up and they impart the same aspects that they did in the aroma, but this time the dark fruits, mainly raisins seem to be the most dominating aspect. Up next comes impart the same aspect that they did in the aroma with toffee sticking out the most this time and there's pretty much no noticeable alcohol flavors. On the finish there's just a slight amount of bitterness with a little more sweetness taking it's place and it had a toffee and raisin like aftertaste. This was a pretty nice tasting beer, it's pretty much just what I would expect from the style.
M- Fairly smooth, slightly rich, a little crisp, medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. This beer had a good mouthfeel that is just what I expect from the style.
Overall I thought this was a pretty nice beer and I thought it was a good example of a Doppelbock, I got a little worried when I got to the aroma which was a little rough, but once I got to the taste it really started to fall in line to the style and I enjoyed it. This beer had nice drinkability, it was fairly smooth, slightly rich, a little crisp, not too filling and the taste did a nice job of holding my attention, I think a 500ml bottle is the perfect amount for me. What I like the most about this beer was the taste and mouthfeel, they were both good and what i would expect from the style. What I liked the least about this beer was the aroma, it was a little rough and it could use some cleaning up. I would buy this beer again if I was in the mood for the style and I would recommend it to any Doppelbock fan. All in all I liked this beer, it did have a couple off aspects, but other than that it still came together to make for a nice Doppelbock. It's not my favorite of the style, but i would say it's above average. This beer made for a nice first impression for this brewery and I'm interested in trying more of their beers. Nice job guys, this was a solid Doppelbock, keep up the solid work.
