Part of their 7 Barrel Series brews.

Belgian fruit dubbel style with raspberry and cherry. Named after Mike Lackey's doggie, Rosie.

Appearance - Pours a blush pink with three fingers of light rose pink head.

Smell - dark cherry, raspberry,, candied sugar, raisin, earthy and leafy hops, bready malts, and earthy yeast.

Taste - dark cherry, raspberry, and candied sugar at the forefront. The raisin, and the hops come through next. The brew is finished off by the bready malts and earthy yeast.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes tart with the dark cherry, raspberry, and candied sugar lingering.

Overall - A pleasant fruit inspired Belgian dubbel that is quite flavourful. I like how the candied sugar blends well with the dark cherry and raspberry. Another winner from this fine brewery!

Appearance: Poured with a thumb of head that did not lace but had ok retention. Body is ruby read that shows modest carbonation.

Smell: Raspberry and cherry are dominant with a touch of biscuit malt in the background. This beer had good potency but it was certainly amplified by warming.

Taste: The raspberry and cherry permeates the beer, as it starts with a biscuit malt as then the yeast tries to make it's presence know, but sadly the berry notes drown out much of anything with only a pear note managing to make noise amongst the aggressively suppressing berries, before it comes to an end with a mild earth hop brush end.

Mouthfeel: The transitioning is good save for that pear and berry note conflict is just a bit too aggressive. The carbonation though helps out the entire beer and a pleasant and mild cherry and raspberry aftertaste is nice.

Drinkability: Refreshing and it's slightly higher 6.4 ABV is hidden very well here. It settles down nicely with it's medium body.

Final Thoughts: The fruit certainly ran away with this one. As with most fruit beers I must ask, why is this a beer, why didn't you make it a cider or wine? What beer elements did you need? In this case, the answer is I wanted a touch of biscuit malt and I wanted to try to make berry be dominant before fruity Belgian yeast, which is good reasoning. Too bad the berry drowns it out. Still good though regardless.
