On tap at their downtown Madison brewpub.
Decent, but only a slightly above average offering.
Primarily refreshing. Secondly, it paired well with my veggie burger that had a spicy aioli sauce. This saison had just enough spices to find the sauce and cleanse the palate for another bite. I also like that the saison didn't try to do too much. Just earthy and spiced enough. No ridiculous brett.
All that good stuff said about this saison's modesty, it needs a true Belgian yeast. That is hard to find and keep consistent in even a small brewpub firm that brews most successfully in the British tradition. But with a good Belgian yeast, the fruit Could stand out and even be rich.

From 11/03/12 notes. On tap at the downtown location.
a - Pours a hazy yellow brown color with no real head and light carbonation evident.
s - Smells of yeast, spices, pepper, bready malts, earthy notes, and some light floral hops. Decent, and some nice spices.
t - Tastes of spices, light floral hops, pepper, yeast, grains, bread, earthy notes, and fruity malts. A slight step up from the nose.
m - Light to medium body and moderate carbonation. Easy to drink.
o - Overall a decent saison that is a little heavy on the spices in the nose, but has good fruit in the taste. Worth checking out.

Saison poured a hazy golden color, with not much head. There was a nice nippy pepper like aroma. The taste had that nippy pepper like bite, with a nice floral note. Good full flavors, had a nice creaminess to it. Overall a very nice Saison, high quality, and good flavors.
