Wishful Sinful is an American Sour Ale brewed with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and flaked rye. Ruby red with a bubbly white head, at first glance Wishful Sinful looks like the Soft Parade we know and love, but a sinful secret awaits. A fruity aroma of fresh berries and just a hint of sourdough bread meets the nose. Sweet berry and spicy rye flavors reminiscent of Soft Parade are accompanied by a bright, sour acidity.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/5/2017. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy pinkish red/orange color with a 1-2 finger dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big tart/sour raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, cherry, lemon, green apple, red grape, white wine, oak, cracker, bread, lightly spicy rye, hay, straw, light lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, berries, wine barrel, and moderate bready/rye malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, cherry, lemon, green apple, red grape, white wine, oak, cracker, bread, lightly spicy rye, hay, straw, light lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Moderate fruity/acidic tartness and light tannic oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, cherry, lemon, green apple, red grape, white wine, oak, cracker, bread, lightly spicy rye, hay, straw, light lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, berries, wine barrel, and moderate bready/rye malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness balance; and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tartness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately acidic/creamy/grainy, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.9%. Overall this is a great kettle soured fruit beer. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, berries, wine barrel, and moderate bready/rye malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the balanced acidity. A very enjoyable offering.
