Great refreshing IPA. Genuine grave taste while still tasty like a light hazy IPA. Nice example of a fruity IPA.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Hazy medium golden pour with big fluffy white head. Solid lacing.
S: Guava and fruit.
T.F: Biscuity grains and citrus. Noticeable guava... lighter tropicals. Orange and berry. Medium to light bodied... minimal bitterness. More guava to finish.
O: An easy drinking middle of the road IPA. Delivers on the guava, but otherwise nothing special.

L- Pours hazy straw, yellow into a pint glass. Typical for the UFO beers.
S- Fruity mildly hoppy and overall pleasant. You definitely get the guava aroma.
T-Smooth and easy drinking. Fruity. A good balance of hoppy to fruit flavors.
F- Light body and high carbonation.
O- A over all good fruity and easy drinking beer. Good lawnmower beer.

Mass. Bay Brewing Co. "UFO Guava Lamp"
12 fl. oz. can, "pkg 11/30/20 10:15" and sampled on 02/19/21
$2.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: The label reads "HAZY IPA WITH GUAVA", and "MOSAIC & MANDARINA BAVARIA" ~ what could go wrong? It's poured a cloudy golden orange body beneath a short head of white that's unfortunately already dropped to almost nothing. I'm sure this is a "beer clean" glass as I've just used it so that's disappointing. The aroma definitely displays guava but there's also a nice berry note to it coming from the Mosaic hops, and orange from the Mandarina Bavaria. I certainly can't fault it there! On to the taste... all of the fruit remains, which is nice, but I thought I'd be finding a little more as well. There's a little bit of floral character to it which is nice, and there are notes of peach, apricot, and passion fruit in the shadows but nothing that really steps forward. The malt is basic, and perhaps a bit wheaty; it's hard to tell as it's kind of dull. It's sweetish but not sweet. I'm not sensing any oats, although they could be there. The bitterness is a little bit stronger than I thought it might be in such a fruity IPA but that's OK, it remains balanced. In the mouth it's thinner than I thought it would be, seemingly light-medium in body, and although there's a haze to it it doesn't have the smooth and silky feel of a lot of hazy beers. Seeing as how this is an UnFiltered Offering maybe it's just that. So what to say? Well it all adds up. The head retention and lacing are poor. The aroma is very nice. The flavor has some great fruity flavors but somehow it falls a little bit short of being great. The mouth feel is also OK, but not great. It's a shame. I really love guava but I hate the seeds, so if you can get the flavor without them that's the way to go. I'd buy it again, I think it would make a great summer beer, but I'm not thrilled with it.
