Having on draft at the Union Brewhouse in Weymouth. Served in a tulip glass.
Appearance: This beer poured a small pink head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a dark crimson color with no clarity or vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.
Smell: Tart raspberries, oak cabernet barrels, and some musty wine notes.
Taste: Same as above. The cabernet flavors is a bit more powerful over the fruit and malts. It adds a little mustiness and the acidic flavors are cool too.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, low to medium carbonation, medium to full bodied, acidic, a little dry, and drinkable.
Overall: The cabernet aging on this twist of a Flanders Red is cool stuff. Hope it comes out in a bottle.
