A 3.75 milliliter brown bottle apparently holds something like 12.7 fluid ounces. Whatever, the contents emptied should fit nicely into a clear glass liter mug. The pour of a near room temperature bottle is problematic, as a great white starchy head takes up more than half of the vessel, regardless of a gentle effort. Then the outrageous head recedes unevenly and without any glass lacing. Beneath that mess, there's a dull and mostly opaque amber liquid that's rather attractive. Mitigating the appearance, the citrusy sour aroma over- compensates with its sharp cleanliness. But, after a tasting, sadly, the aroma will be this one's best attribute. The taste is mildly sour, but too woody. There's no depth, nor taste transition to be had. The body is flimsy, even for the style. At $10 for a little more than twelve ounces, this was not well spent beer money. Luckily, it was only for one.

375 ML bottle
Served in a Jolly Pumpkin tulip glass
bottled 04/18/2017

This beer pours a golden hue with a slight haze. It is topped with an inch of beige head that leaves spotty lacing.

It has a nice citrus aroma. I wouldn't say that I can pick the pineapple out. It has that JP funk going on adding some musty basement aroma.

It has an initial tropical fruit taste. Then the JP funk comes in with dank and funkiness that one would expect from a JP beer.

Medium to thin bodied

This is a solid Jolly Pumpkin beer. I prefer them more on the sour side, but it is hard to judge them without bringing one out of the cellar from time to time. I like it. I think more time will make it even better.

On tap at brew dog soho in London yesterday afternoon.

Hazy yellow body with a persistent strong white head. Very nice lacing.

Apple white wine aroma with a little yeast and very faint spice.

Taste follows the nose, spice even fainter. Very pleasing drink.

Mouth a little above medium. Finish very dry.

Overall, very nice Saison. Stronger on the apple white wine than the yeast and spice, which is fine by me.

Appearance: Pours slightly hazy and golden colored with a modest head that leaves a load of splashy lacing

Smell: Funky and lactic, with lemon and under-ripe pineapple tones; oaky, with a strong farmhouse yeast character

Taste: Lactic citrus forward, with a lemon pith character; the under-ripe pineapple is very subtle but emerges; in the middle, the funky farmhouse aspect takes over, with the oak and the Brett joining with the pithy hops in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: An interesting hoppy farmhouse beer with a fair amount of complexity

Thanks, cdubnbird, for the opportunity

I tried this on tap at Arooga's served in a tulip
The color is hazy gold with white head.
the smell has a funk and citrus quality with lots of lemony and fruity aromas with slight woody ester.
The feel is bitter yet has slight spice and wild yeast in the feel with a moderately carbonated dry finish
The taste is hoppy but not overly bitter, it is more wild in flavor than acidic but has some elements that are lightly astringent with herbal and earthy flavors from the hops
This is a great beer, lots going on and enjoyable level of hop character yet a unique brew that is not dull in any sense.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Slightly cloudy yellow with a nice head and beautiful lacing. Pungent sour fruit smell. Earthy taste with lemons, pineapple, and green apples. Nice beer for the veranda!

The beer pours out a lightly hazy light golden color, with 2 fingers of white head----------- the aromas are funky, earthy and grassy, with tropical fruit and medicinal/bandaids----------------- the flavors are of tart juicy pineapple and light funk, the beer has a thin mouthfeel with a dry finish--------------- overall this beer was nice, the aroma was better than the flavor i was hoping for a little more complexity--

I picked up a bottle of Jolly Pumpkin's Bamarillo today for $4.99 at The Lager Mill. I've never heard of this variation of Bam Biere and I'm interested to see how it turns out, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12.7oz bottle into a teku.

A- The label looks good, it goes well with the name and it's eye catching. It pouted a golden color that took on more of a yellow hue when held to the light and it had a fingers worth of slightly creamy and bubbly off white head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left a little bit of spotty and patchy lacing behind. This is a good looking beer, it's pretty much what I would expect from this style.

S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the funky yeast being the first to show up and it imparts some pretty typical funky and barnyard aroma for their farmhouse yeast with some wet straw and horse blanket aromas in the background. Up next comes a light leather like aroma and that goes into the fruits which impart a combination of light citrus rind, lemon and stonefruits with no single one seeming to stick out the most. Up next comes some noticeable hoppy aroma with some citrus rind, floral hop and a light amount of green hops. Towards the end comes the malts which are a little on the lighter side and they impart a pale malt, light grainy and bready aromas with just a little bit of sweet malts. This beer has a good aroma, it's just what I expect from the style.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma, but it's just a little lighter and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the funky yeast still being the first to show up and it imparts all the same aspects that it did in the aroma, but this time and it's lighter and it goes right into the hops which also impart all the same aspects that they did in the aroma, they are just a little stronger this time. Up next comes the fruits which show up just as much as they did in the aroma and this time it's the stonefruits that seem to stick out the most. Towards the end comes the malts which show up just as much as they did in the aroma and they impart a nice clean malt flavor. On the finish there's a slight bit of bitterness with a little bit of tartness and it had a lemon, stone fruit, funky and hoppy aftertaste. This is a pretty nice tasting beer, but I wish the hops were a little more noticeable.

M- Smooth, very crisp, dry on the finish, slightly fizzy, medium bodied with a higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is very nice and it works nicely with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a pretty nice beer and It's a nice example of the style, it seemed to be fairly similar to the base beer and I thought the hops could have been showcased a little better, but it's still another nice tasting JP beer. This beer had nice drinkability, I think one is the perfect amount for me. What I like the most about this beer is the mouthfeel, it's very good and it's just what I was looking for in this beer. What I like the least about this beer is that the hops weren't highlighted a little more. I would buy this beer again, but it isn't something I would stock up on and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a nice JP beer. All in all I liked this beer, but I didn't love it and I think with a little more work on the hop profile that this could be a pretty good beer. It's not a favorite JP beer and it's a solid example of the style. Nice job guys, this is another tasty farmhouse ale, keep up the hard work.

12 oz

Pours mostly clear golden, sugar white film for a head.

Smells of roses, coriander, honey, sourdough bread malts, and grassy malts.

Flavor of coriander, white grape, lemon citrus, cracker malts, and a mild dry bitter grassy finish.

Light to medium body with light stinging carbonation on the tongue.

Very nice fragant and floral saison, very much worth trying.

Pours a golden hue. There's a prevalent lemony aroma that carriers assertively in taste. There's some brett softness as well. Not getting a ton of hop character, but it's a refreshing saison.
