Fragrant & rich with complex flavors & a balanced mellow acidity, this raspberry-packed blend of La Roja has notes of cocoa, vanilla, & pie crust.
We steeped our 8.5 month foeder-aged La Roja flemish ale on 95 gallons of raspberry puree to create this special fruited blend.

Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales "La Roja with Raspberry"
12 fl. oz. can coded "07/31//24" and sampled on 12/25/24
Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a very hazy chestnut brown body beneath a short head of creamy yellowed off-white foam. The aroma suggests, acidity, fruitiness, oak, and a little bit of wet leather. The taste follows and it's surprisingly tart. I've had the Roja before and don't recall it being this sour but it is a unique beer and it will vary by batch and I'm guessing the raspberry has also added some additional acidity. It's very fruity and raspberry-like, and the oak comes through clearly as well. The Brettanomyces adds some metallic character which is usually nice but it's coming off a little odd here, and some wet straw and leather. The head dropped rather quickly, which is common for sour beers, but it did leave some surprisingly good lacing. If it was a little clearer I'd rate it higher for appearance. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and crisp and acidic on the palate. As a tart sipper it's hard to argue with.
