Is Furthermore beer still around? I found Oscura to be a tasty beer. It is a Banshee Cutter type of beer.

I'm disappointed that I've only had half those beers pictured. Love this style!

Mini review time, two very similar coffee beers:

    Cool Beans canned 1/16/19
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29402/155232/
    Espresso Totalitarian canned 2/19/19
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/147/382807/

Both were very similar. Roasty/toasted malts followed by some sweetness and finishing with coffee bitterness. Slight edge to the Stone beer, might be due to freshness.

Looking forward to finding the mentioned beers in this thread. I will try to keep this updated as I check them off.

    Cheers BA!

I don't think it is a year round one and if you like a roastier coffee beer, Lupulin Javatized maybe worth a shot.

The PB mocha version of it they currently have on tap (and in crowlers) at the brewery was pretty good as well.

I use to love this beer. Haven't seen it around, but also haven't seen any Furthermore beers around, any more...

Modist's First Call is one of those beers that makes me shake my head. Why put the time in to brew a lager, when the level of coffee they infuse absolutely obliterates the base lager...

This one was hard to rate. Not really getting the ba/milk stout vibe that it is billed to be, but a good beer nonetheless.

I was able to pick up the previously mentioned Fulton coffee mixed pack while I was in Mankato as well.

    Cheers BA!

Looks like you got most of them in your distro. One that stands out as missing is Firestone Walker Velvet Merlin and Mocha Merlin.

Another national to keep an eye out for is Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout. Not amazing but worth a try if you've come this far.

And here are some of the packaged Iowa coffee brews just in case:

    Single Speed Tip the Cow
    LakeTime Cappuccino stout
    Backpocket WakeUp Iowa
    NoCoast SmokeyRowCoast
    Exile Sir Moch-a-lot
Peace Tree Cold Brew (maybe packaged? never actually had this one)

    Limited availability:
    Confluence 50's Dad
    Madhouse Carpe Diem

Toppling Goliath canned Morning Latte but has not distributed any yet afaik.

Nitro Merlin is all over the place, if I can find it under 6 months old I might pick it up.

I lived in Iowa for the first 13 years of my life (Waterloo / Marshalltown). I live in Owantonna, MN now - right on I35. Where would I have the best shot of picking up any of these?

    Single Speed Tip the Cow
    LakeTime Cappuccino stout
    Backpocket WakeUp Iowa

    Exile Sir Moch-a-lot

I have been checking on the Pulpit Rock and Toppling Goliath websites to try and catch the pour over porter, or mornin latte cans for pickup. No joy so far.

Just finished up the Fulton mixed pack, the Cacao War and Peace and Fika Coffee Stout were standouts.

Will keep an eye out for the Lagunitas Cappucicino and:

Well, LakeTime is located in Clear Lake. They seem to have gone all in on flavored beer, which I don’t tend to like, but the Cappucino Stout is pretty good.

I would imagine a Hyvee with a Wine & Spirits section near there or closer might carry some of the others.

If you can’t find them, send me a pm and I’d be happy to help.

    This thread was needed......

Here are two not mentioned -the best newer local coffee beer I’ve found is Blackstack brewing Spare Grounds which is a coffee lager infused with True Stone Coffee -I would be all over it if they would add it to year round cans , but they haven’t brewed it in a while and taproom only so Surly and Bent Paddle will continue to get my money .

Best seasonal coffee beer I’ve had is Bad Weather Coffee Ominous w/Peace Coffee and it’s not even close !

I forgot about Blackstack. When the wife and I were there the spare grounds was our favorite.

Was this in cans or brewery only?

I picked up Hubbard's cave coffee Porter when I was in Wisconsin a couple weeks ago and it was decent.
Founders breakfast continues to be the epitome of this style for me.
Locally I like BP cold press. Surly grindcore was awesome, wish they would make that again!

Anyone remember BrrrGrinder from Indeed? I liked that one. More of an amber coffee ale IIRC. Still have an empty bomber in my basement

For me Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel (made with the civet poop coffee) was the holy grail of coffee beers, but I haven't seen that around in quite a few years. That and Speedway Stout (oldie but goodie). Peruvian Morning also was impressive with a lower ABV. Boulevard Smokestack Series - Impy Stout X - Coffee was also really solid, though it was a special release and not sure if will get brewed again.

Really liked this one, very thick. I think I like 12oz. can/bottles than pints for this style (and the price). Probably getting Founders breakfast stout over this in the future.

Was able to pick up a few more mentioned beers from South Lyndale Liquors. Thanks for all the recommendations!

    Perennial "Sump" (2018)
    Prairie/Evil Twin "Bible Belt"
    Burning Brothers "Roasted"
    Big Axe "Stonehouse" [couchsitta]
    Lupulin "Javatized" [nograz]
    Modist "First Call" [jera1350]

Already tried the Burning Brothers (very sweet and thin) and the Prairie/Evil Twin (This is just Bomb! right?).

Please keep the recommendations coming and feel free to post your thoughts/opinions on coffee beers.

    Cheers BA!
