I was hoping someone could give me some insight on the availability of some German (european) brews I'm searching for. Curious if these are imported to the US, if not, are they readily available in Germany? I know a couple are Belgium and another is Austrian.

The only one of these I've seen in the US is the Aventinus. It used to be easy to pick up. I haven't looked for it in a while. I doubt you'd find the rest, especially in Missouri.

Yup, I know I have seen the Aventinus before, but since I've been actively looking....nothing.

Kloster Kreuzberg is brewed on the mountain in Germany. I do not believe they even bring it down the mountain, but keep it for the hardy souls that make the trek up to visit them. It doesn't look like Brauerei Schumacher exports, either. Some Augustiner biers are available in the US, currently I only see two, but there is hope, look for it online. Good luck!

My mistake, the Austrian Salzburger Augustiner is most likely not imported. Forgive my old eyes!

And a trip to Salzburg is worth the Augustiner Märzen.

I picked up some Aventinus in Maryland this last week at Total Wine and More. They have stores in a ton of states. You might find other items through them as well although their inventory this past week appeard thinner than in the past. They might be able to ship between stores.

Mr. Dunderbak's Biergarten and Brewery, Tampa, FL, had a surprisingly good supply four years ago when I was there. Surprising selections on tap as well.

It's the greatest beer experience on earth. My only regret is that I have but one avatar to change to a picture of their beer.

Grab a stein off the wall, rinse it at the marble fountain, pay 4,50€ and hand it to the impossibly Austrian guy standing in front of the olympic pool-sized barrel who fills it up perfectly with his eyes closed.

Sit at a big communal table with the 14 types of potato dishes you bought and chat it up with group of guys from Graz for whom English is their 4th language and it's still better than yours.

Much like they modeled Cinderella's castle after Neuschwanstein, if beer had a Disney World, it's Augustiner Bräustübl in Salzburg.

There used to be a point-of-view video of the process on YouTube, but I can't find it now.

(cue the pedants who will prove me wrong by digging it up, but that's okay -- it's what I want.)

    Nevermind, did it myself.

Many years ago while in Hirschbrau Biergarten (I may be wrong on the location) they had a toilet brush to clean out your Bierkrug. I opted out of that and just took my chances with running water.

Feierling is a minibrewery with a gasthaus and beer garden in central Freiburg. About 8 years ago Feierling was owned by the local Ganter, and likely still is. We went to the beer garden. The food menu there was really just snacks, and the one available beer (a pale lager) was just OK to us (but some BA reviewers loved it). We went to Martinsbrau (no beer garden) for dinner, and had a good meal with a nice dunkel -- they now have a rotating tap that has a beer of the month. Those two breweries are downtown, just a short walk apart. I doubt that either offers bottled beer, and fairly certain none gets to the US.

Thanks for the YouTube clip of the Salzburg Augustiner Brew House. My wife and I went there in late spring a few years ago. The beer garden was closed because of the weather, but the "process" was similar inside. I seem to remember you could rinse the stein with cold or hot water?

I don't recall that outside. In fact, the word was that the water was warm to bring the temp of the Krug up so it didn't shock the beer -- but that may have been urban legend.

These two beers are available packaged on a regular basis at The Beer Temple in Chicago. Tripel Van De Garre is also available at times here on draft. They can also let you know if any of the others on your list import here.

I also suggest contacting Laschet's Inn, as they obtain special kegs which may interest you if you are ever headed our way.
