Good Afternoon NBS-ers! Thanks to Maria for getting us started, see ya later @cavedave !
Right now I'm getting some lunch prepped; hot Italian sausage sandwich with some tater tots!

So sipping on this while I wait for it to cook...

Poured into my Snorkel tulip. Borned on 10/26/2015
Pours a golden yellow to orange body with a fingers worth of white fluffy head. Decent amount of lacing left in the glass.
Great aromas of citrus: oranges, grapefruit, tangerines a little spicy pine at the end.
Yeah, this is really nice! Nice citrus hoppiness up front to follow suit with that aroma, nice dry malty finish.
Light mouth feel, lingering dry biscuit like malt.
Overall, I should have picked up a whole six pack! This is super easy to drink and the best Lagunitas beer I have had since uber fresh Sucks! Pick this one up if you haven't already! 3 weeks old and this is great! I think I like this better than Founders Harvest Fresh Hop Ale!

    Cheers!

    Greetings friends and good morning,
It is a truly beautiful day here in the upper Piedmont. The leaves are falling big time and the colors everywhere are striking.
I love Paris and this is a very somber time. I would venture that the The French Foreign Legion and all versions of US and British special forces- and probably a surprising merging of efforts- are finding their way to Syria and God knows where else.
I watched Gunga Din recently and realized how prescient good old stories and history ring solid through time. It is not only very entertaining, but instructive......Cary Grant and Victor Mclaglen!
Today's beer is Alpine Hoppy Birthday..Session India Pale Ale.
I grilled up some ribs last night to lure my son to the house...it worked. He brought some really cool beers, but I liked this one best. Very fresh and bright, with a large citric edge, but not too much. The malt base was not overwhelmed by the hops, and the alcohol at 5.25% is excellent and the beer goes down very easily. Goes well with ribs. I could drink this beer everyday and will seek it out. It also throws a beautiful head, has great malt/hops aromatics and is lively and fun to drink. Jeez, great beer is everywhere! Go Panthers!

Here's an iconic piece that will always play well. Sometimes I listen to this tune and become completely transported to Butch Cassidy/Sundance Kid, freshman year at college, and memories that just keep emerging. I love it!

I do find that there is a quality base beer underneath their sweetened varieties, and I'd easily take this one over St. Louis or Timmerman's. If you really want one that shows its base the best try the Peche next, I've always enjoyed that one the best.

Congratulations on # 1000 - I agree Prairie Bomb was underwhelming. Haven't found any Merkin yet, but some day ...

Peche is my favorite also.. although I like the Cassis too. The Kriek I don't mind either the others perhaps not so much in that order as well. Cuvee Renee Kriek has always got me curious as well.. but it's not state side but all over Belgium just about anywhere.

Speaking of @Greywulfken, he seems to have quite a career as a label model. First it's Laughing Dog's Alpha Dog (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/12985/47941/), now this.

    New Abyss Sunday

    Greetings NBS participants,
I'm two timing today. I bought this several years ago and never got around to drinking or reviewing and the on-line tasting seems the time.
So, thanks Maria and Dave for keeping NBS alive and kicking and the intro today.
We are continuing the spectacular weather in these parts. Approaching 60 today. Unbelievable.
I hope this day finds you well.

It is an absolutely beautiful day in Colorado today, currently 55 degrees and very sunny. The leaves are turning and falling, but today is superb. For my first New Brew Sunday I am going to tap into Founders Breakfast Stout. The wife and kids are at the zoo (which is below the mountains to the left) and so I am enjoying the peace and quiet at home.

Here's a view of Pikes Peak from my bedroom window, yes I had to pull the screen out to take this. Pikes Peak is 14,110' high but my house is only at 6,700'. In another month everything will likely be snowy and frosty; but not today.

This beer actually took my by surprise. It is a delicious brew, no doubt, but I didn't expect the coffee flavors to taste so different to me than other coffee beers I've recently had. It tasted more like "bitter coffee" than "roasted coffee". I also got a whiff of green bell pepper flavor, but it was only once and never to return. Also, this stout was more balanced than I expected it to be, with the brew never approaching what I would call "sweet". My rating is below average but I sure did enjoy this beer.

Thanks @thatoneguymike for hooking me up with this tasty brew.

    4.27 rDev -4.5%

L: Deep, deep brown with light mocha head, 1 finger of small bubbles
S: Smell is mostly dominated by chocolate shavings, slight coffee and oatmeal. Mild green pepper aroma.
T: Tastes strongly of chocolately coffee, moderate sweetness, slight creamy taste. Tastes like coffee bitterness is doing some work in lieu of hops. Bitter coffee flavor lingers.
F: Feels medium bodied and slightly creamy, smooth, with slightly astringent mouthfeel.
O: This is a very flavorful beer with loads of coffee and chocolate flavors going on. Being "only" 8.3% you can enjoy these flavors for breakfast without being buzzed all day. It doesn't quite have the "freshly roasted" flavor that some stouts have, and others might be hoping for more sweetness. It does the trick though.

Good afternoon NBS followers and thanks to Maria for getting us all started. Had a technology malfunction yesterday and had to bury a less than 2 year old computer in the growing heap of them in the basement. I need to get them to the recycling site the next time they have an electronics day. So I'm still getting things back together and I'll be back a little later with my new beer for today.

    New Quad Sunday

    Ommegang Three Philosophers

Pours a ruddy brown with a finger of tan head and minimal lacing.

Aroma of cherries, dates and clove, as you might expect from a quad blended with Kriek.

Medium bodied with good carbonation. Same flavors as the nose, with cherry the most prevalent without being over-powering. There's a fair amount of hop bitterness for the style, and while not as complex as the Trappist quads, it does have a very nice creamy, medicinal cherry aftertaste.

    A very decent offering.

Our computers seem to multiply because of the desire to scrap them . We usually don't throw them right out and that comes in handy when we want to make new ones out of old ones. Now they are everywhere. In every room of the house I mean. Did you know that for most unfixable problems you can simply reformat the hard drive or reinstall the operating system and it's like your machine just came out of the box brand new. Got to advanced options under restore and click restore to factory settings.
