I had my computer geek son in law on the phone for an hour yesterday and again this morning and we tried the restore to the last update and then tried total restore and even tried to restore from a backup drive I had made. No such luck. I was able to copy all my files to thumb drives so no great loss.

Pils pikers and stout sticklers, it's been a week since you last enjoyed my verbose, inflated, self-indulgent pomposity. Miss it? I know you do. It's a chilly 53, it feels like 49 (according to weather.com). NWNJ is enjoying the brisk, hike-friendly weather. Me? I'm indoors, pontificating and pondering Left Hand's newest offering. Click here for my review. One of the best I've had in a while, in terms of new offerings. Hey, catch my 3 part Belgian review last week? Great, wasn't it!

And here's a wrinkle- I'm now enabling the comment option on my beer reviews over on Blogspot. I'd like to grow my readership, and I feel like this might be a way. If you have a Blogspot account (or even if you don't) drop my the review, leave me a message, add me as one of your subscriptions, or hell, tell me my review is way off the mark and I have no business reviewing beer. Even bad press is still press.

    Happy NBS, everyone.

Clown Shoes Undead Party Crasher American Imperial Stout. Pretty nice stuff 11% ABV. This brew is just about what I want in an Imperial Stout and has a slightly smoky aftertaste. Well done.

Afternoon to my Sunday friends!! Haven't seen you guys in a couple weeks , been stupid busy, and yes I did I miss you. Been kinda crappy week here in CT. Rainy cold, well damn New England like! Today brings this
    [IMG]

Honestly not much here, kinda bland. I would recommend as a good starter sour for someone's lookin to get into the style. Color is spot on , smell is nice and barnyard funky but taste is bland, not super sour not bretty just like a golden ale?? I have to say I have their blue Sunday and incorrigible and they're top both IMO

Saw this on the way to my inlawz and figured yous would like it as much as I did
    [IMG]
Cheers y'all. Enjoy your Sunday's hope to see you next week!!

Another new one for me and to Central Florida as well, all the way from Hawai'i!
    Maui Brewing Co. CoCoNut PorTeR
    [IMG]
    Canned on 09/09/15
Poured a dark brown with a quickly disappearing light khaki head, leaves small islands of lacing.
Aromas of chocolate, coffee and of course toasted coconut.
A nice porter with roasted malts up front with hints of cocoa and coffee with a underlying taste of that toasted coconut and little bitterness and the back of tongue on the finish.
Light mouth feel on this one.
Overall, a decent porter; very easy to drink and delivers on what it says it is.

Watching the Pack. Hoping for a win after they lost the last two.

Southern Tier Krampus is one I have had on my list for a while. Sweet malts, some caramel and bread. Plenty of piney, green hop scents that are floral and earthy. Maybe a few hints of citrus. Starts off with sweet malts with a caramel flavor along with a breadiness to it. Transforms into a big hoppy finish. A bitterness comes in with earthy and piney notes, even a bit of citrus. This has a nice flavor and excellent balance. Light to medium-bodied, smooth and nice carbonation, some lingering bitterness.

I can see why some dislike it, but it is a big malty lager that has loads of hops. If you like IIPA's, give it a try.

    Happy New Beer Sunday Everyone!!!

Woke up today realized I didn't have any new beer so made a quick run!

Picked up a interesting mikkeller beer- Spontanelderflower ..was a bit thrown off by the idea of flowers in a beer every flower beer I've had with flowers I hated....good thing it didn't show through..

    4.55/5 rDev +9.4%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.5

    Poured from a 2013 bottle.....

L: A nice slightly hazy golden hue with bubbles streaming up not much of a head to speak of...

S: Was pleasantly surprised smell like a fantastic gueuze musty, funky, cheese like maybe? .. A bit of fruit..great smell I assumed it would smell like flowers and honey for some reason haha.

T: Immediately comes in with a funky barnyard taste reminds me ALOT of tilquin.. A nice citrusy lemony candy ends dry. no flower to speak of..tho I've never taste a elderflower.

F: was hoping for it to be a bit more sparkly it ends a bit flat ..but still not bad

O: Love this stuff great lambic gonna be buying the rest of the spontan series to give try!

Also this is my 100th beer logged here on BA! I've had a lot more just the ones I've remembered to log.....Need to get better with review all beer rather than just a rating I've been getting better at it now that I've had some time to learn the parameters of the styles I drink.

Hello fellow NBS-ers! I feel like it's been a while since I've had the time & a fitting brew to contribute over here. Needless to say, it's good to be back! It's been something of a bizarre day here so far - I won't bore you all with the details, I may just jump right in with my new brew of the day:

We have: Bell's 30th Anniversary Imperial Stout (split with the GF)

    First, some BA stuff:

    A: 4, S: 3.75, T: 4.25, M: 4.25, O: 4, BA says: 4.07

    My official review:

12oz bottle split into two small tulips.

A: Pours a deeply opaque black with minimal chocolate-colored head that disappears instantly. Retention is just a small ring around the edge that never quite goes away. Lacing is very poor.

S: I'm just not getting much here. Some woody milk chocolate, hints of vanilla & maybe some baking spices. Booze is undetectable.

T: Comes on with a sharp cedar & nutmeg/cinnamon that quickly shifts gears into more a vanilla cream flavor. The entire mid palate is essentially vanilla cream leading into a slightly boozy, mild finish. As it warms, more booze & spice become apparent, along with a subtle but well-integrated milk chocolate note. This brew is growing on me over time as I sip it. Perhaps a bit less depth than expected, but what is going on is very tight & effective.

M: Extremely low carb married to a dense, creamy malt body. It's both rich & delicate at the same time - which is no easy feat.

O: I'm impressed by the subtlety here - this brew is fitting as a special anniversary ale.

So - not at all bad. There was some initial trepidation, especially given the weak nose - but I feel that this brew ultimately came together as one of those 'greater than the sum of it's parts' type things. It works so well as an overall product, the focus clearly being on balance & subtlety rather than extreme flavor profiles. I'd say it's quite evolved that way, well done, Bell's!

As always, it's a true pleasure to be here with ya'll today! I look forward to reading all of your new brew reviews, which I'm sure will be as thoughtful & insightful as ever :-)

'Til next time - wishing you all good beer & good cheer!

Always enjoy ST Krampus, myself, and usually grab some when I see it in the winter. Guess it is about time to look out for it. Wish they still did the original Farmer's Tan, though :slight_frown:.

Just had that last night myself. Felt it pretty bold in flavors and definitely a sipper. Also maybe one that age might add some interesting changes.

Time for this one and see if the Eagles can get back on track. Not a huge fan as it has a sour tinge to it that does not go well with the dark malts.

    New beer #1001...
    Pipeworks Amarillo

Tons of fruits expressed on the nose and tongue, nestled amid a relatively plush body, medium-weight, very smooth, with a soft carbonation running through... My first fruit impression was berries - maybe even blue - bright and lightly tart; then flavors of pineapple and apricot, with a soft honey-caramel coat. Super-juicy and soft, big, but with a fairly moderate bitterness.

Good afternoon again fellow NBS followers. I've now had a couple of beers and calmed down over my technology problems of the last couple of days. I get way to frustrated trying to figure out technology issues. I've had been in charge of building multi million dollar projects for the last 20 years from the ground up some in the 100's of millions of dollars. Why these tech guys won't give you a damn drawing on something to at least show how the systems are connected is beyond me. So to me this technology has become a disposable substance. It screws up you throw it away.
It is was chilly start here in central NH about 28* and it has turned into a great late fall day actually 52* as I write this and some sunshine.
My new beer for this Sunday is Stone's Ruination 2.0 bottle dated 10/19/15 which was actually why I picked it up at less than a month old.
This beer poured a nice golden color into my tulip glass. A thin white head on the top that disappeared fairly quickly.
This nose of this beer is of tropical fruits and some citrus. Nothing real sharp everything being mild and very pleasant.
The taste in this beer does follow the nose nice tropical fruits with hints of citrus but there is also a nice piney taste that does come through in the end. This beer has a very nice amount of bitterness.
The mouth feel is great nice amount of carbonation that last through out the glass.
Actually this was a much better beer than I expected I've been kind of disappointed by some of the beers from Stone in the past. I may have to make a trip back to the store to try to pick up a couple more of these.
    Cheers

Greetings, all- thanks to a sudden change in schedule coming at the last minute, I did not have to get up at 5:30 this morning and go in to work. Now I get to enjoy this beautiful brisk November afternoon instead of being underground from sun-up till sundown :grinning::grinning::grinning:.

What better what to do it than with a new beer-
    [IMG]

    Allagash Hugh Malone Belgian IPA

This one was suggested by @LeRose because he saw that I preferred the more delicate interpretations of the style, and he could not have been more-spot-on. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Is that glow coming from the sun or what's inside the glass? That image seems to capture the essense of this beer- so bright, floral, and yes, sunshiney on the nose. Grounding it all is an elegant platform of spicy, peppery esters and crackery malt. The palate is supremely dry, veering off slightly in the citrus peel direction, before ending on a purposeful crack of bitterness and lingering earthy spiciness. Overall, an overriding gracefulness seems to define the whole of it. Great, very enjoyable beer A (4.4).
