Ha yeah. Little buggers. I have seen their nests in the wild in Barcelona (they aren't native, but escaped) and apparently there are colonies in Chicago and New York (Brooklyn I think) where they build their nests around power transformers to survive the winter:

Probably part of why they are so cage territorial is to defend the huge nests. They get called Monk Parakeets too sometimes - they are pretty hardy and tough little buggers so I am not surprised yours is headstrong!

It has a definite smoked meat quality to it, the aroma matches up to the taste, it sure does remind me of bacon or smoked ring bologna.

I was not expecting this sub-thread when I started this Valentine's Day New Beer Sunday thread but it just goes to show how 'dynamic' these New Beer Sunday threads can be.:astonished:

    Cheers!

Enjoying a Ménage à Trois for NBS.

This is one of the VD gifts my lovely wife bought. We have been married for three years and much like @lordofthewiens, I'm a lucky lucky lucky man.

So she claims she selected this and a Big Bad Baptist Imperial Stout all by her little self...

Currently drinking the FOTAB for NBS.

Clown Shoes states, "We blended 1/3 Undead Party Crasher age gin bourbon barrels, 1/3 Blaecorn Unidragon aged in scotch barrels and 1/3 Billionare aged in scotch barrels."

Boom! Ménage à Trois! Beer style!

For some reason she thought the beer's name was appropriate for me. Hahaha!!!! yeah

Seriously, it is above my beer-geek pay grade to properly describe this beast but in the spirit
of the Day...I AM LOVIN' IT!!!

Edit: The Blaecorn dominates this beer in a spectacular way.

Wife also bought the Big Bad Baptist because she knows how truly disturbed and deeply
    religious I am...about beer.

I shall save the BBB for the "666th Annual WBAYDN Drink with the Duvel Day"
    coming Monday 06.06.16.

    Great NBS posts as usual!
Have a nice nice nice day!

Kinda had to assume as it is bacon. The combination of "Pow!' and "not overwhelming" had me wondering, though.

Ha! It had to happen.

I guess technically both the GF and I are "happily divorced", although we are anomalies in that both of us had quite amicable splits from our exes.

The good thing is happily/unhappily married/single/divorced, there is always beer!!

Heyoo onto beer #2 and a fine beer it is. Hinterland (Green Bay, WI) decided that 2015/16 was the time to launch their Barrel Aged series.

This smells like an sweeter IPA with some oak, bitter citrus, pine along with vanilla and caramel malt. The aroma is pleasant. First and foremost I get a quick, sweet taste of caramel and vanilla, with spicy hops. Bourbon mixes well and is not over the top. Medium body with a slick, oily feel. There is definitely a bitter quality from the hops and makes for a nice American BW. Look forward to aging the other 2 bottles for 1 and 2 years as I think it will become a bit more caramely.

Happy New American Wild Ale Sunday!
    Happy Valentine's Day!

Partly cloudy, maybe 40, still some nice snow a few hundred feet above where I'm at, but around here, there is that mud/clay shit (sucks big time). I thought I had this beer before, but I guess I was mistaken. Very tasty, really good price as well. Been watching a couple of hockey games today, baseball is really close as well, yeah!

Millstream Raspberry Latte Stout, 7.6% ABV, 50 IBU. Raspberry nose, and almost overpowering raspberry taste - but it works for me. Not very bitter. I like it a lot, so onto my favorites list it goes. I was at a local taproom/brewery today to pick up tickets for their beerfest next Saturday - should be a lot of fun, 51 taps and free food! Supposed to be a balmy 45 degrees, so the patio will be open too.

It hits you with smoke right up front, Pow; but it isn't an overwhelming amount of smoke where that is all you get, not overwhelming.

My third NBS beer of the day is this bottle offering from Burlington Beer Co.

    American Porter / 11.00% ABV

L-The beer pours a solid black with no light making it's way through. The head is huge, frothy, and mocha in color. The lacing is ubiquitous and lasting.
S-dark and roasty mixed with a terrific natural peanut aroma finish.
T-The taste is exactly what you expect and hope for in a peanut butter porter. The beer starts dark and roasty from the malt and finishes with a nutty peanut goodness.
F-The mouthfeel is adequate for a porter. Carbonation is light.
O- One of the better bottle offerings from BBCo. The 12% ABV of the 2016 version is well hidden. I'd recommend this beer with no hesitation fo

I should have double checked this one because I purchased it today but it was bottled in October. Nonetheless, this one drinks with a really nice pineapple flavor mixed with a bit of herbal pine. The mouthfeel is really creamy and nice. Glad I tried this one and can only imagine how great it must be fresh!

    Cheers!

It my top ten favorite beers. And FYI they also can this. And I will say that the packaging and label has changed recently. Maybe within the last couple of months. That is the old label so your beer is probably at least a couple of months old I'm fairly sure. Should have a date up by neck. In any case a fantastic brew!!

FWIW, while there is an endless list of stouts that hold up very well, but I have a handful that I feel definitely improve with time. Specifically a lot of time. This is one of them (Bell's Expedition is another at the top of my list). It is so smooth after 2 years.

I have found the temperature to be VERY important with every coffee cream ale I have tried. Only when they are at, or very near room temp, can I pick up much of the base beer and start to sense some balance.

Good evening all. Haven't checked everything out yet but plan on settling down in a few after a rough day today.
My 13 year old sweety Lucy the cat had to be taken to the emergency vet. Looks like some kind of infection. Spent three hours there and no sooner we walk through the door when Magic our 15 yr old starts hissing and growling as if he's sick.
The to top it all off Kim's mom calls within 15 minutes of us arriving home and tells us her dog just died. Not the most pleasant of days. So I may sit this one out. If so I'll catch up on all your new beers and posts. Maybe I'll pop in briefly ....
    Take care everyone!

Another new Brown for today. I actually have one more new one that I might pop after this. This one is Ellie's Brown by Avery.

I may have rated this a little high but I really am enjoying this beer. This is a brown ale that is just custom made for my taste buds.

    Here are my thoughts.

    4.37/5 rDev +12.3%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Very dark brown with only a trace of light making it through. Sweet malt and the smell of fresh baked white bread. There is also a bit of nuttiness in the nose from this one. The taste is slightly sweet and yeasty with a sort of roasted coffee near the finish. The body is medium with a good amount of carbonation that slightly stings the tongue. This is a really well done brown. Glad I drank this one.
