Good morning NBS/nbw, and Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads.
Thanks @SawDog505 for hosting this week.
We will be heading out to see #2 son in a bit, was able to video chat with Team Taiwan earlier, so off to a good start.

Todays offering is from our good friends at Wunderkammer, This mixed culture with Raspberry and Blackberry minces no words about the fruit. yet has a soft almost pillowy texture. In no small part due to the outstanding carbonation. The finish is equally impressive with an ashen, minerally element.

    Cheers all

Poured from the 2022 dated, 500 ml bottle into the test glass
A - Ruby colored backdrop, with a slightly pink shaded frothy cap. The cap seems everlasting.
S - As advertised red raspberry, a bit stronger than the blackberry, mixed culture adds complexity with some peppery notes
possibly helped by he use of some rye.
T - Both the fruits are in balance, again a slight peppery thread in there. All the flavors ride on a carpet of slighty acidic funk
M - Start is tart, mid rounds out a bit, the carbonation adds a rounding, fluffy element. Finish is fruity and ashen dry.
O - An absolute delight, fruit forward, with excellent texture.

    St. Bernardus Prior 8
    8% dubbel
    [IMG]

Good initial off-white head when poured from the bottle and nice lacing throughout. Body is an opaque red-brown.

Aroma is sweet malt with a dried fruit (fig, raisin) presence. Pleasant.

Taste follows nose and the malt more fully expresses itself. Dark fruit returns and is complimented by yeast notes and a bit of light spice. The finish reveals a modest hop taste then quickly dries up.

Strong carbonation and the mouthfeel is moderate. Drinks lighter than its ABV. No hint of the alcohol.

Prior 8 is a text book example of a Dubbel. As such, it's difficult for me to rate given my personal preferences would change the beer (eg less carbonation and more body). Fans of the style will love this one. I'll stick with their Abt 12.

Dark brown body, clear, looks nearly black in the glass, opaque; thin yet lasting head, light khaki colored. Very nice blend of dark malts, cocoa, and chili peppers on the nose. Nice meld of flavors; chocolate and cocoa predominantly; rum booziness; minor chili pepper presence; a little spiciness (cinnamon likely). Heavy body; smooth with a fine, light coarseness of the palate; mostly sweet mouthfeel.

It's well-balanced and not overly intense in any department. If anything, I would have liked a bigger chili pepper taste, but that's a minor quibble. This is a nice barrel-aged imperial stout overall.

...a very nice beer from my recent (and this is May of this year, not last October as I've had in my head for a lot of the May beers -- the October visit still fucks with my head)...I'm pretty sure this was a beer from Micah, and if not, then kudos to @Danmullens1...either way, great beers are to found in Wisconsin...

Been saving this treasure from @Whyteboar since it came in, for a special occasion, and I was absolutely satisfied, thank you so much for this!

Goose Island - Bourbon County Brand Caramella

Tried it on two different instances, a quick taster before breakfast. (Tongue untainted by outside factors aka first thing I had today)
And a full pour after a hearty breakfast get-together with the whole family.

    2020 vintage

Poured at fridge temp into a taster & tulip glass.

Taster impressions: likely one of the best beers I'll ever have. Rich, candy caramel apple, full and blossoming boozy warmth similar to what I'd expect from a mead (good thing)

Onto the rest of the pour (a few hours later)

Pours a deep apple cider caramel golden brown with a 1F khaki tan head. 4.5

Warm mulled spiced fresh caramel, cinnamon, apple crisp (oats, brown sugar) and vanilla. It's a delightful and intoxicating mix. 4.75

Taste follows with an added hot alcohol blast that comes out the nose and blossoms from the inside out in the chest. Reminds me of a top tier well made mead. 4.75

Light pricking carbo, very full bodied and chewy. Warming alcohol again and a lingering malt that sits perfectly on the back of the tongue. 4.5

Overall like my original first thoughts, probably one of the best and greatest beers I'll ever have. Not difficult to finish like BCBS, nor too hot/biting of alcohol, and exactly flavored as advertised and beautifully brewed. I did enjoy this one closer to fridge temp rather than cellar-ish temp, I feel like the colder temperature made the boozy heat balance more nicely. 4.75

From Twin Elephant Brewing Pub Lager 5%ABV. The brewery started with what was to be a British Golden Ale ,switched to a lager yeast and dry hopped it with Tettnang and Crystal hops. They ended up with a nice refreshing and enjoyable beer. The aroma and taste are both a blend of floral, spice, fruit and spice. The body is medium. The finish of dry. Another top shelf brew from Twin Elephant.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads. Two of my six kids will be visiting today, should be fun.
My new beer for today is Broken Heart Stout from Broken Bow Brewery.
Very dark brown. Thick, creamy tan head with decent retention.
    Aroma of coffee and chocolate.
Taste follows the nose. Coffee, cocoa. Some late hops.
Dry finish with some nice hop bitterness.

Poured from a 16oz can stamped 5/25/23 to a Nonic at fridge temp.
This beer has a clear gold body and a medium white head.
The aroma is a little oniony and musty but there is some hoppiness.
There is better. It is hoppy but balanced, the malt is definitely there. Very bitter finish.
The mouthfeel is medium with some hop oiliness.
Overall, this beer turns out okay in the end. Don’t let the smell fool ya.

Hello denizens of NBS! This might be one and done for me as I am channeling @Dimidiata and her “On Sundays we drink barleywine” meme.
This one was sent to me by @Resistance88 in a trade, and it is one that I never thought I would get to try, but here we are!
Thought it would be best in stages so I planned on sealing it after the pour.
Poured with a texture of olive oil and had just a little more foam forming for the head that never quite covered the surface but never went away completely either.
Even to my Covid affected nose the aroma was decadent; bourbon and brown sugar and sweet malts were what made it through.
The taste is something more than that, but not much. That is to say, those flavors are there in spades, and they are accompanied with rich toffee and figs and raisins and, well, things I can’t quite describe. But dang, this is tasty.
The feel is viscous and smooth, no carbonation bite at all, and while not as viscous as olive oil, it’s more so than most beers, barrel aged or not, manage to get.
OA, this is what makes beer so appealing to me, just waves of flavors with each sip.
    Solid.

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Sippers and commentators. And happy Father's Day to all BA Dads and Dads of BAs! Last month Magnify Brewing celebrated its 8th Anniversary. We were in North Carolina that weekend and it was the first Mag anniversary I ever missed. All the special anniversary IPAs sold out immediately so all I can celebrate with is Gold Label Born Day, an Imperial Stout (for @MacMalt it's always stout season). All of the Born Day variants are conditioned on cake batter and this one is conditioned on coconut and almonds. It's aged in 12 Year Elijah Craig and Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels for 12-24 months. And like the other variants this one is over-the-top sweet and chocolatey. I'll admit these Stouts are an acquired taste but if you consider the brewer's goal of simulating birthday cake they always do a good job.

Poured into a snulip glass. It pours a thick, dirty mahogany. The medium-mocha-colored head fizzled away instantly leaving some rather unpleasant looking detritus floating in the glass. The nose is big and fragrant with chocolate cake batter and the distinct aroma of bourbon. The taste is just as advertised; big and sweet with chocolate, coconut, and almond notes. It's almost cloying. The effect of aging in Elijah Craig and Buffalo Trace barrels is noticeable but not distracting. Mostly, it's sweet and chocolaty. The mouth feel is super thick and viscous - it has motor oil consistency which marks Magnify's Born Day Stouts. The level of carbonation is low and you can feel the 13.5% ABV. It's most definitely a sipper.

Just home from a visit to Ptoclamation Ale Company - our first time at the Warwick location. Comfortable space, lots of families, very good service even though they were getting busy. Pizza truck and hot dogs on site. No doubt we'll will be going back - very good overall experience. Got a haul for NBW today and to come for a while.

We tried six beers while there, one was not good, one OK, four very good.

Another Room Without a View - allegedly a kolsch and I am hard on that style, but it was awful. If I was gonna score it, I'd certainly beat @Roguer fir low score. Nothing about it reminded me of a Kolsch...fortunately redemption lay ahead...

Capisce - more on this one later. "Italian" pilsner - it followed us home.

Haljita - a brett sahti. Also found its way to the car. Very interesting brew that hitched a ride home.

Fade to White - an OK witbier, but a bit lacking in flavor. Not bad, just not "enough".

Polychrome - Berliner Weisse with blueberry and pineapple. Very tasty, very fresh fruity flavors. Sour and sweet in perfect balance. Nice beer.

Foeder Forces - oak aged ale with cherries, juniper, lime leaves, orange peel. An excellent oak-aged mild sour. On par with some of the Allagash sours without the Allagash yeast signature.

Overall, thought this ended up a good overall experience. People were pretty laid back and patient. Two servers, both were good but certainly understaffed if they were packed. Maybe they should separate draft and pick up - lots of people just grabbing beers to go. Barking dogs...if I had to nitpick, that would be it. But a place to go and set a spell - you'd never know the airport is right down the street, at least today. I liked their kinda crowded old digs - this is a huge upgrade and maybe the place reviews need to be separated or reset entirely. Yeah - it's a tasting room in an industrial building and there's not much can be done with that, but spacious, comfy, laid back vibe. Advantage - it eas nice outside, so that seating option was viable. Sixteen beers across many style on tap including the bread and butter IPAs, and an even bigger choice of beer to go.
