Last year the SP thread had over 10x as many replies as every other Midwest thread combined. In 2024 it was 7x, let’s see if we can keep it going.
Probably should duck after saying this, but 3 of us shared a bottle of Shin Shin on NYE - all three of us thought it was a shell of Batch 1. Don't confuse that with thinking it wasn't good, but moreso B1 was through the stratosphere good, and this was just your normal elevated SP stout. Really appreciate @not2quick 's assist on snagging the bottle.
Yeah, definitely wasn't like that first batch. Although my palate has changed in the past couple years
Anyone have BBT Rye 25 yet? I had it on NYD and perhaps im being a baby back bitch, but felt it was nothing special. Barrel wasn't very prominent. Tasted pretty basic. Tasty, but didn't hit like past bottles
I agree with this. You could have told me it was a Revolution beer and I would have believed you. Not a dig at Rev, love Rev, but for $40 for a 375…
Had it on site and no complaints. Like usual I thought it improved vastly as it warmed up. Not the best year of it, but not below what I expected.
This will be my first time attending Stout Week. Based on the blog, I wanted to ask how many days would recommend staying in St. Louis. My initial plan is to arrive on the afternoon of February 12 and depart on the morning of February 15. Would that time frame be sufficient to fully enjoy Stout Week and the draft releases? I’d really appreciate any suggestions.
Never tried B1 so nothing to compare to but, I opened B2 on Christmas and didn't think it was anything special. Coffee dominant, which I don't think was a bad thing as it probably helped tame some of the sweetness of the maple. My biggest complaint was how subtle to non-existent the barrel seemed. It needed some backend heat to help balance things out and there was none to be found. Wishing I would have tried it sooner as I would not have traded for a second bottle.
