64 months... Curious what the oldest stock they have and whether there's a law of diminishing returns on aging. Don't have an opinion and really just wondering.

I can honestly say I don't get excited about cinnamon and vanilla et al flavored stouts anymore. Far more accessible breweries do it way better. They should stick to pure oak expression.

I'm not qualified to tell Side Project to "stick to" anything, but they are so good at regular* barrel aged stouts, it almost seems like a crime for them to add anything else!!

*aka no flavors outside of the base ingredients of a stout

Lol I agree, in that they use the most overwhelming amount of it relative to any brewery under the sun.

And it's not just cinnamon, although in that regard they definitely pile it on, but their other adjunct work gives me an instant headache with how overwhelmingly cloying it often is.

The last half dozen times they've thrown out a phrase with the word "thoughtful" in it, what they really meant was heaping mounds and half tank-fulls of adjuncts.

I'm just trying to bring this thread back down to earth with an itty bitty teeny weeny touch of reason and humility before it floats away into the ether on the first day of the year.

C'mon people! The sickeningly sweet fawning is melting my face off.

A moment of silence for all the stouts that had "overwhelming" use of adjuncts:

    OWK
    D2
    D8
    D9
    D11
    D12
    D13
    D15
    DM
    BVC

Let's bow our heads for the Shared stouts that "piled" it on:

    BA Coconut Vibes
    BA Coffee Shop Vibes
    BA Ambiente

    A little humility, Side Project...

There’s nothing more fascinating to me about this thread than watching the comments and who likes what comment. The dichotomy couldn’t be more obvious.

I haven’t quite figured out why dissenting opinions are so unwelcome here. I put a lot of value in everyone’s view, not just those that like the same beers or breweries I like (although I may be more likely to take their advice on a beer I might like). It’s beer advocate, not SP or CK advocate. It’s more than homership or fanboy-ing. I don’t always agree with @Sabtos view (in fact, his palate often seems in stark contrast to many, myself included, in most threads), but I still value his stark takes, whatever they may be. That’s part of the fun.

But you’ve only had the non-adjuncted barrels that they’ve chosen to release with nothing added. There’s no reason to assume every barrel is best suited for release without any adjuncts added.

Big thanks to whoever it was that suggested champagne stoppers (@CypressPaul1 ??). The one I bought from Amazon works great. Been testing it out quite a bit over the last 3ish months or so. Much to my surprise, it made my Grisette last for 4 days.

I think I enjoyed the beer more on the 2nd day than the first. (No substantial changes on day 4; did not consume on day 3.) Still think the ~4ish range is an appropriate score for this beer.

So what, everyone should like everyone's comment? We should agree with everything everyone says in this forum? Randomly you have someone coming in here like Skip Bayless with a hot take. So the rest of us who don't embrace these hot takes are Side Project homers or Cory King fan boys? I don't think it should be a shocker that most of the people in this forum like Side Project. If people want to make hot takes, it can be entertaining, but please don't go defending them because their comments weren't embraced with open arms.

Humility, from Side Project? Wow, I thought you were retiring from beer, Baback? You waded a little into the deep end with that second post, too, particularly since it wasn't exactly unwelcome by all here. You used to take a reasonable approach to SP's hype, but got dayum, new year new you!

Please re-read my post soberly. It's about the absurdist homerism and adulation being laid on a little too thick in this thread. Again, I'm asking nothing of Side Project.

And yes, more than half of those beers are pastry glop that are outdone by dozens if not hundreds of other more accessible, less overwrought beers on the market. But slap a textured, cursive label on the bottle and charge hefty prices for severely limited product and you're going to have Russian oligarchs who don't even know how to pour a proper glass of beer happy to spend big money for the "best beers in the world" that their Google search turned up.

But hey, whatever it takes for an IG worthy #bosspour pic, right?

I don't know why you posted this, and whether this is a Trump reference, but I'm liking it for Bloodsport anyway.
