I would expect anything processed in an old tyme fashion to be inconsistant, but I hope that these inconsistencies also bring some flavor characteristics that don't exist in the contemporary malts.
I used some barke pils as a base for an ipa last year, and while I enjoyed the beer, I am not sure I could tell the difference from my usual choice of pils malt. That's on me though, how can a nuanced base malt really shine through copious amounts of hops like citra. I plan on using it again for a pilsner this summer. What does that have to do with floor malted maris otter? While I'm sure there are flavor differences, I am not certain if they will show themselves through c malts and hops.

I have this same point in mind. I've already got Muntons MO in inventory. While I haven't been able to confirm it, I doubt it's floor malted. Could
I tell the difference in the first place? I'd have to do a side-by-side, realistically. I'm going to use what I have the first time through and take it from there. I did vote for the English crystals, though.

    Cheers!!!
