-> Poll #34 <- determined that overall water profile will contain 134 ppm Chloride, 74 ppm Sulfates, and 106 ppm Calcium. Discussion also resulted in a decision to revisit the hop schedule (reducing the amount of Citra), based on a proposal from PortLargo.

This is the proposed replacement hop schedule:
60 Minutes: 0.26 ounces Magnum (14% AA) or hop of brewer's choice to 12.8 IBUs
    10 Minutes: 0.5 ounce Citra (12.7% AA), 1 ounce Galaxy (15% AA)
    Flameout/Whirlpool/Hopstand: 0.5 ounces Citra (12.7% AA), 1.5 ounces Galaxy (15% AA), 1.25 ounces Mosaic (12% AA) (modeled at 170F for 15 minutes)
Fermentation Dry Hop @ 70% complete fermentation (SG @ ~1.027): 0.5 ounce Citra, 1.5 ounces Galaxy, and 1 ounce Mosaic
Traditional Dry Hop: 0.5 ounces Citra, 1.5 ounces Galaxy, 1 ounce Mosaic

    Proposed changes are underlined above.

This is a straight plurality poll.

This poll will be open for 48 hours.

If you have issues with or suggestions for methodologies used in this project, please send them via beermail. Let's keep the threads themselves on topic to the question at hand and not about how you would have asked the question differently. Lobbying for votes and intelligent discussion of each choice's relative merits is encouraged.

I think it would be awesome/informative if people explain their reasoning behind their vote.

It seems to me people who want this change want to make the beer more galaxy focused. I personally think it will could also lead to more perceived bitterness -- even though ibus can be measured from late hop additions, the beers that I have made that skip a 60 min addition seem less bitter to me, despite high calculated ibus from the late additions and whirlpool.

Anyhow, I don't care how folks vote, but I will be brewing something like this this coming weekend. I don't have magnum on hand, so may need to make an adjustment -- either Citra or Challenger at the 60 min mark -- if the vote goes this way.

I voted for the change because I believe it will lead to a more balanced contribution among the thee types of finishing hops. Cheers!

I have a snarky comment about voting for change but I will leave it alone since I would most likely get banned.

    Miss me yet?

I'm fine with the beer being Citra forward, so I voted "no." I'm also not too worried about the price either, as PortLargo mentioned in that thread (or somebody else who agreed with him), since I have most all of those hops in my freezer at the moment just waiting to go into a beer haha.

I voted yes, but not for the sake of change..

I like a bit more bitterness in my IPA's so the 60min add suits my taste and I'm curious about the galaxy. This is my first time using this hop. (actually my second but that batch is still conditioning)

I also plan to brew this this weekend, so now I'm torn... do I brew the crowd recipe or the adjusted one? I have until Saturday to figure it out.

Anyone else planning on brewing this soon? And perhaps a trade when finished?

You should start a poll. I say the crowd one, as I like Citra.
I'm on batch 3 of at least a portion of this recipe. Mostly the grain, but I did change the 2 row to Golden Promise 1 time and added accidulated malt to adjust the PH.
Currently drinking the same grain with Columbus, Citra, Galaxy. I'll probably brew this exact beer to end the summer. Then I'll put the keg next my lawn chair at the pool and crush it...

Well, at least in theory, the different recipes should have the same bitterness since they're targeting the same IBUs. But I'd also like to try this with a big 60 min addition, maybe a hopshot as in some Heady Topper recipes I've seen.

I'm hoping to brew this as is in a couple weeks. Just picked up the hops, hopefully the LHBS will have the yeast in stock by then.

Hop schedule remains unchanged. I will post the final recipe (hopefully tonight) to the Recipe sub forum and link it from here. It will be a version that assumes pellet hops. I don't plan to post a leaf hop version, unless it's requested.

just curious I have no experience with 1318 how many packets are you pitching?

Depends if you use a starter. I'd look up a yeast pitch rate calculator. Usually 1 packet contains only 100B cells and you need around 220B. This can be done by creating a starter a few days prior.
    I'm using 1 packet with a starter.
