Beer Meets Wood. Sponsored by Allagash Brewing Company the one-day, two-session fest is being held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at The Portland Company Complex (58 Fore St) in Portland, Maine. The fest will feature at least 50 brewers dedicated to the craft of maturing beer in wooden vessels with over 200 beers poured for your drinking pleasure.

For those of you who remember our Night of the Barrels and Night of the Funk events, Beer Meets Wood is basically those two barrel-aged-centric events combined plus more.

An increasing number of beer-cationers that I run into in Portland have been taking advantage of AirBNBs. Quite a few listings within walking distance [pretty much anything on the peninsula] of the Portland Co. complex on Fore St. Considering the prices of some of the hotels nearby... it's a great way to go.

Any idea when you'll start posting a beer list?

As with all of our fests, we won't start posting the beer lineup until we've confirmed all brewers get closer to the fest.

Update: Due to their recent acquisition by A-B InBev, we've revoked Wicked Weed's invite to Beer Meets Wood.

Probably for the best. Doubt they'd get a warm reception after that.

It's a shame. Such good beer. I get the business decision on their part to sell out, but it's too bad.

Luckily there is such a wealth of talented brewers showing up that we won't notice one brand missing.

    Cheers!

Is this similar to the old Night of the Barrels event?

Yes, as stated: "And for those of you who remember our Night of the Barrels and Night of the Funk events, Beer Meets Wood is basically those two barrel-aged-centric events combined plus more."

I'm looking for a hotel - very pricey in that area

Check out The Inn at St. Johns in Portland. Every time I go to Portland I stay there.
Nice little hostel with very reasonable pricing. I just stayed there for my 2nd time earlier this month.

I'll be staying there this time around as well.

Airbnb probably has better prices and better places. At least that's been my experience in most cities thus far

Agreed ... AirBnB is your best bet. Lots of inexpensive options out there.

I wonder if this will sell out considering what looks to be a very tasty selection?

My Magic 8-Ball says: "As I see it, yes." It hasn't let me down in decades, but we're about to ramp up spreading the word soon just in case.

Zwanze Day overlap... wonder if Novare will get it again. That would be a pretty epic day - Zwanze straight into BMW.

I already bought tickets for the Afternoon session which means I won't be able to wait in line at Novare for tickets and sneak back after my session for a pour :slight_frown: First time I'll be missing it since they started hosting.

I've had good luck at the La Quinta. Nothing fancy but it's relatively close, free breakfast, and doesn't break the bank.

Stayed in an AirBnB last weekend in South Portland, just over a mile (just over the bridge) to the old port, two bedroom house, $140 a night. Had a pull out couch in the living room too. Uber ride was $4 on way home after night at Novare Res.
