I'll be in the NE Ohio area in about 2 weeks and want suggestions on places I should check out.

I'm looking to taste as much as I can while I'm in Ohio and bring some back to California as well.

Any help you guys can give would be much appreciated!!

Vintage Estate in Boardman and Save-on Craft Beer and Wine in Mentor are probably all you need as far as beer stores go. The prices in OH are much cheaper than Pittsburgh and the selection is much larger as well. If you really want a third spot, Chalet Premier is 10 minutes from Vintage Estate.

How long will you be in Pittsburgh, if at all?

I'm actually going home to visit family in Youngstown, so I'll just be doing day trips to Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Probably two trips to Cle and 1 to Pitt.

I have NO idea where to go in Pittsburgh, though it doesn't seem like there's much of a beer scene compared to Cleveland.

Vintage is my favorite beer store. I only get to go there a few times a year, but it's like Christmas morning when I walk in! I've never been to Chalet, but my buddy has been telling me about it for a while. So I'll have to check it out.

Any thoughts on bars to check out in those areas?

Lol. I am curious why you think that. There is a hefty beer scene in Pittsburgh.

Some of the breweries worth a visit (out of 30 or so in the area):
    Brew Gentlemen
    Roundabout
    Draai Laag
Voodoo in Homestead/Pittsburgh, or Voodoo in Meadville (original location)
    East End

Some of the bars worth a visit:
    Piper's
    Fat Head's
    Gooski's (the ultimate dive)

I personally would just hit up breweries, in that order. Plenty of good beer at all.

I probably think that about Pittsburgh because I'm used to going to Cleveland and having Cle beer. I'm sure it's my lack of knowledge about the Pittsburgh beer scene that makes me think there's not much to be had. Very happy to learn otherwise!!

I wish I could go to the Jack's Abby takeover! A buddy of mine loves lagers and would be soooo jealous! I was just looking at House of a 1,000 Beers. Glad to know it's worth checking out.

We'll be going to a Pirates game while in Pittsburgh. Any recommendations on where to go near the stadium? Or right in the city?

    Thanks for all the info!

They have tons of out of market stuff. So if you have plenty of time, it's worth a visit for sure. It's well outside of the city.
The Beer Market is right at the stadium. Rivertown North Shore is close also. Max's is sort of close; maybe a 15 minute walk away. It's a very, very, very old bar.

There is a Sharp Edge in the city, but the prices are stupid. I mean, really stupid. I will never go to a Sharp Edge ever again personally. I'm not sure what kind of food you like, but if you are looking for a way above average dining experience, I would strongly suggest Grit & Grace. They generally have a good beer selection. I didn't realize G&G was on the BA directory and will be adding my review right now.
