I was sure I'd find a thread like this by searching but I didn't so...

How do you guys dry hop with your pellets? Just throw em in or in a bag? and do you necessarily cold crash after this?

I always seem to regret going commando, a little bit ends up in the keg and then there is a decent chance of hop particles ending up in the tap which leads to drips.

If you keg, I think the best way is bag in the keg. You can suspend from the top of the keg if you are worried about contact time, but I have not had an issue if the keg is refrigerated the whole time. I don't think I have ever keg hopped and then left at room temp.

Yeah, it always gets kegged...which means it gets crashed *...after a week (@37*F) ...I only use pellets for dry hopping (99%) : )

I used to go commando right into my fermenter, then I would cold crash for roughly 24 hours before kegging. My last batch I dry hopped in a bag in the keg, I think I'm going to continue with this method from now on.

Commando, and with pellets. They always seem to drop well enough for me to be able to rack my beer, without sucking up any in my siphon.

Both. I generally go commando in the primary, cold crash, rack to keg where I have a second dry hop suspended in a bag.

If I'm using whole hops (which I usually do because I grow my own) I won't use the bag. But if I have to use pellets I'll use the bag every time. For me using whole hops is kind of a romantic choice. If I'm going to make an IPA, I want it traditional. (Totally my preference and I do like other IPA) I use only whole hops, and I cold crash it, and keg it. I am very careful while kegging so I have never had a problem with clogging or dripping, and in my opinion the IPA comes out with the perfect clarity.

    Again though, just my preference.

Always bag. Less 'hop sludge' = a little more drinkable beer.
