What's your (one) favorite local beer, with local being defined as a beer produced within approximately 25 miles of you (ie--a place you might go on a weekday night)? I know that questions about your favorite local beers/breweries come up a lot, but I'm interested in something more focused. Rare/one-off releases are fine. If you can't pick just one, just suck it up and highlight the one you feel deserves the most recognition.

Since you didn't limit your request to non barrel-aged beers I think you're going to get a lot of those, but ignoring the BA category, which otherwise would cause me to name my real favorite, I'll go with Arcadia's Hop Mouth Double IPA.

See my avatar - Triple Digit Aftermath. At least for something produced year-round that I can get any time I want it, which is, in my opinion, a plus for a beer.

It's just a beautifully smooth and layered wee heavy, approaching Skull Splitter territory.

Boulevard is brewed within 25 miles of me. Their Imperial Stout X Coffee Ale from last February is still one of my favorite beers of all time.

I'm relatively close to Half Acre and could drink Gone Away IPA all day if given the chance.

Pipeworks Sure Bet. I relocated to Chicago in May for work and by chance moved near their old production facility. After I got moved in, I walked by just to see what was up and one the guys gave me a Sure Bet bomber as a welcome to the neighborhood. It made an obvious impression and is a great DIPA to boot.

Can't do it. I've got seven breweries within about a 3 mile radius. They're all good, and all have their own niche in the local scene. I can anything I'm in the mood for at a given time, anytime: Chuckanut for world-class lagers; Boundary Bay & Kulshan for classic PNW-style ales; Wander for top-notch sours and barrel stuff (their regular stuff is damn tasty too); Aslan for an all-organic take on a multitude of styles; Structures for Saisons & Wilds: Menace for for some nicely done "between the cracks" brews; and the soon to open Stones Throw for solid basic ales in a unique setting.

    45 miles to Tree House
    30 miles to NEBCO
24 miles to Steady Habit....so within your parameters, I'll have to choose: Coalesce DIPA

It's hard to pick one, but Transmitter in Queens has been catching my interest lately with their 'farmhouse' and brett beers.
