I picked up a six pack, probably like most people here, and drank the first two from the can. Tons of smoke. Drank the next two out of a pint glass (different day) and almost no smoke to speak of other than at the end of second when I'd let the beer approach room temp. Outside of that it was tangerine juiciness. So odd.

Out of how many collabs? Let's play percentages. Shhhh is TH's lowest rated beer and having had it, not even close to being as good as Treehouse does on thier own. All of your greatest collabs have local ties and to heavily hyped beers/breweries. That doesn't make the beers bad but a little homerism goes a long way.

Again I didn't say all collaborations aren't great. You just seem to wish I did. Why don't we collaborate? I wrote something, now you read what it actually said.

Agreed. Double Dose is great. Green Street was good, but (to me at least) not as good as Congress St., Melcher, etc. and nowhere near the DDH Trillium beers. The only collaborations that I consistently like are coffee collaborations, if you can count those (e.g. Goose Island + Intelligentsia)

FWIW, Green Street is a DDH beer.

I know; even still I prefer the "regular" Trillium IPAs to Green Street, and the DDH Trillium stuff blows Green Street away. To me at least.

I found it comparable in quality, but noticeably different, which I liked. I have a hard time saying which of their flagship beers I like more or less because they seem very similar.

I know they use Iron Heart canning mobile canning line. I dont see how they wouldn't have said/done something prior to packaging if they were experiencing issues. I've had a decent amount of the beer and never had a problem but it seems that if so many people are experiencing off flavors then there must be something up.

Just me???? 12 bucks a 6 er and this is what I get? Do I just not like the hop profile or is there something amiss here?

Has either brewery commented on this yet? Complaints have been pretty frequent on here. Odd for two respected breweries to stay silent.

This collab was a big miss. Had such high hopes too.

Grey Sail nailed it on this style but has been taking for ever to get it into cans.

Has anyone with an off-tasting beer directly contacted the breweries? I know we sometimes think that what we say here is auotmatically picked up by the parties concerned but it can't be taken for granted. If I thought there was a legit quality issue with a beer then I would get in touch with the makers.

Edit: Found one person from the other thread who contacted Otter Creek. http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/joint-custody.318949/page-2#post-3957809
Still, with all the folks saying they got plastic flavors I would hope they are telling the brewers and not just noting it on these forums.

I bought a case of lost nation gose that was completely flat, reached out to them and they said they were going to send me a box of beer down. That didn't happen though.

I can only speak to one instance where I contacted a brewery to report a quality issue. 2 or 3 bottles from a sixer of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale had bad flavor and no sense of the usual hops. SN refunded my money and even asked if I had anything left from the sixer to send back to them so they could analyze it against a reference sample from the batch. I didn't because I drank the bottles that were good and dumped those that were off, but I was impressed at their response. Point being bad beer should be brought to the attention of those who made it. Maybe you get a satisfactory resolution and maybe you don't but if we just let it lay then it doesn't do anyone any favors.

I didn't get any plastic or smoke as described in the other thread. The berry and melon characteristics from the different hops just wasn't appealing to my taste.

I got a sixer to split with a friend and we both enjoyed it. Drank 2 each. We got the smoky background taste but did not find it off putting or over powering. I wouldnt buy more but I definitely didn't think it was bad.

Other than Alpine, every brewery I've contacted or knew of someone contacting about a QC issue has had good customer service to resolve the issue.

I found single cans of Joint Custody today and grabbed two. I will do a side by side blind tasting with Peak Fresh Cut tonight to see what's what.

I know the hops in Fresh Cut are different than Joint Custody but it was the only other hoppy pilsner I could find in the store of recent vintage that I don't have experience with that, save for a small tasting sample sometime last year. I'd wanted to try JC against Sierra Nevada Nooner but the freshest Nooner I saw today was from February whereas the Fresh Cut was from mid-June.
