Our next style of a historical nature that should be added? I think I've seen more Grodziskies over the years than Lichtenhainers.

    Does Liechtensteiner brew a Lichtenhainer?

I assume you’ve had both? These both seem like something right up Archival’s alley.

I've had both styles but neither was from Archival. They have a Grodziskie that was entered here on BA two years ago but not by me. I can't find any indication that they have ever brewed a Lichtenhainer.

I had a Grodziskie from Shlenkerla during my September trip to Germany, plus one from Dovetail 9 years ago. The Lichtenhainer was from Territorial about 10 years ago, and I just had that beer changed to the new style listing.

I think I've had a grodziskie at Territorial but I can't recall it's name to get it placed into the new listing for the style. So I'll have to do some research.

English translation of Wikipedia German article:

Lichtenhainer is a German top-fermented beer made from barley malt. It originates from Lichtenhain in Thuringia, now a district of Jena.
The beer was originally brewed exclusively with barley malt, but today, wheat malt and smoked malt are also added to ready-made mixes/grists. Since no original recipe exists, it was previously also stated that it consisted of equal parts barley and wheat malt, one of which was smoked malt. It is described as a "light, sour, slightly smoky, pale beer." Originally, it was brewed from unboiled wort, but due to problems with clarification and shelf life, the preparation with briefly boiled wort became established. The sour taste is due to subsequent contamination with lactic acid bacteria. The hop content is low. Fermentation, storage, and bottling for bottle conditioning are carried out as with wheat beer.[1][2]
Its regional and even national recognition is partly due to the fact that students from the university city of Jena became acquainted with the beer in Lichtenhain's pubs. The brewing tradition ended in 1983 and was revived in 1997 by a Jena restaurateur.[3]

Horst Dornbusch is cited in the footnotes.
