Madison, WI recommendations

    I am planning a weekend trip to Madison and looking for lodging and brewery/ bar recommendations. Also looking for restaurant recommendations. First trip there and want it to be a good one.

    Stay at Hotel Red when the Badgers are not playing and walk to Brasserie V.

    I'd go to Capitol Brewery and Wisconsin Brewing for sure, especially if you like lagers and German style beer. I've had beer from both but have never actually visited either place.

    They look like any other brewery. Neither is really that interesting, or even located someplace worth going to. IMHO, the only "local" brewery worth the time to drive to is New Glarus. It's one of the few which doesn't look like a factory and is located someplace worth seeing.

    Note that this is not a commentary on anyone's beer - just the facilities themselves.
