Good morning Pale Ale Peeps and Bohemian Pilsner Bunnies! I hope this message finds you ready for another Sunday of all things good, fermented, malty or hoppy in your perfect pints, yard glasses, and flutes today!

Weather in Central OH has been spring-like for more than 5 minutes! My hops are on a rampage up the side of my house with all the rain followed up with the sunshine. I can stand there and watch them grow. Plenty of IPA’s for all my friends this fall!

I’ve been enjoying all the awards and accolades from the World Beer Cup and glad to see that places like Columbus Brewing Company and Fat Head’s did well. Lucky to have access that stuff. I’m sure there are award winners in your area that are worth trying and bragging about!

Speaking of….Today is the day and this is the place for you to TRY a new beer and TELL us about it here. Please find a beer that's new to you, drink it, and give us a GOOD description of what you had. A good description is kindly requested, at a minimum, to ensure the uniqueness of the thread and keep it going every week. Feel free to wow us by adding to your description using a linked review, pics, videos, and other interweb tricks you might find helpful. My day is chock-full of Easter festivities so I’m planning on the regulars to keep this focused on NEW BEER today! Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun.

    Good day and good drinkin'.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

Happy Easter everyone! Matt lovely to be back to NBS! LOL I went to Vermont recently and came back with a few beers from Hill Farmstead. I am so excited to have been there and to have gone with @cavedave . The fun started in Ithaca ( I met so many BA's in Ithaca by the way- awesome queue for Luminous) for the release of Luminous and then we hit the road. Hill Farmstead is far away form me. It's really a farmstead out in the country and the road to get there is a dirt road and scenic glory all the way. In fact I don't think I bought enough beer. =)

My favorite beer so far from Hill Farmstead was the double Simcoe and this one Edward. If you ask me that shaun hill is trying to put the hops in the beer and leave them on the vine at the same time. His beers are incredibly light. I got to try quite a few and believe me they are terrific.

    Here is Edward.

    Happy Easter!

    Lovely and cool on LI.
Later to the in-laws for Easter dinner - their Italian version includes lasagna.
I bring my own beer (wine drinkers ).

    Today's new beer:
    [IMG] [IMG]
A rando buy on the heels of a Speedway Stout last night (tough competition).

You'll love/hate this: I recorded the pour instead of photographing it. Super geeky.

    There you go.
And there it is --> Flying Dog Imperial Coffee Stout

And this (also love/hate I suppose :stuck_out_tongue: lol)...

    Have a great NBES!

Happy sunny NBS. I have spent my morning out in my small garden; repairing rabbit fence. Weather is very pleasant and we should see our first 70 degree mark. I have a couple of new beers to try today. First up is one of the new Point IPAs, Spruce Tip IPA. As you might imagine from the name, it has a pine and spruce flavors with some caramel malt sweetness. It is pretty simple, but overall it is satisfying.

Happy Easter, NBSers! After spending some time taking care of the kids and some outdoors time as well, it's time for a new beer that's light and refreshing.

    Oude Gueuze Tilquin a L'Ancienne

After having Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueuze, Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueuze Golden Blend, and then last week Cantillon Classic Gueuze, this beer doesn't quite amaze me. It's very good, but neither the aroma nor the flavor can really stand up to those giants.

Where this beer does seem to excel is the mouthfeel; absolutely superb.

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25923/70745/?ba=Roguer

Again, a very good Gueuze, and more readily available than the better, pricier brews. Certainly worth seeking out if you're a fan of the style.

    Cheers!

    New Roggenbier Sunday

    Happy Easter Greetings all NBSer's,

Warm but cloudy and fortunately not windy. I hate windy days.

Today I'm sampling from August Schell, as I did last time I was here two weeks ago. They are recent 1st and 3rd recipients at the World Beer Cup (vienna lager and german sour respectively).
The Roggen is part of the 30th anniversary pack celebrating the orignial pils. It's nice. The rye is soft and this is better as it warms. Should go nice with the ham today - and all the other good things awaiting.
Here's to a good beer in your glass!
    Best to all.

Happy Easter fellow NBSers! Been a couple of weeks since I joined in on the NBS thread and today's beer is very enjoyable and perfect for the beautiful Easter Sunday!
    Troegs La Grave
    [IMG]
Got a little over-zealous with the pour
Didn't pay no heed to the instructions
    [IMG]
But what a white fluffy head it produced full of all different sizes of bubbles
    [IMG]
Never a huge fan of Belgians, but the more I drink the more I think i am liking them!
Tons of pear and crisp apple aromas
Light and tart body with the funkiness coming through at the end
    Not overly carbonated.
tons of sediment floating around like cra cra crazy!
Overall a tasty beer with that Belgian funk and some fruitiness; another winner from Troegs!
    Cheers!:grinning:

    NEW (MISLABELED) DUNKELWEIZEN SUNDAY

Happy Easter NBSers! Dandy day here is south central, sunny and pleasantly cool. So @cavedave hates country music? I knew there was something about that guy I liked.

Having a nice wheat stout ( I enjoy it more if I call it that) with lunch.

Moving on to a post-egg hunt relaxation beer. Hmm, something new; something nice; something in a small bottle format. Something that can cleanse my palate of that Cadbury cream egg.

    ::Light bulb!::

    Prairie Bomb!

Oh man, oh man. This is one hell of a beer. So complex, so many flavors (coffee! chili peppers! chocolate! vanilla! barley!), I can't really sum it up for you in abbreviated fashion. Review below.

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30356/94350/?ba=Roguer
    4.6 / +2.2%

I'm a little all over the place on ratings so far today; a little generous with Prairie, a little harsh with Tilquin (-6.2%). Both surprised me a little bit.

Fantastic beer. Enjoy your Easter and New Beer Sunday, fellow BAs!

    New American Porter Sunday

Greetings from a decidedly non Spring-like day here at The Jersey Shore. Windy, very cool 50 degrees, minimal sunshine. Not exactly favorable egg hunt conditions. Beer conditions, however, are excellent.

So let's get to today's new brew before the bro' and sis in-laws arrive:http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1924/88269/?ba=NiceTaps
A good Duclaw offering that may have been better suited, by name, for Christmas Day, ya hear.

    Guten taaaaag!

I'm not a huge hefeweizen fan but felt like pouring one in support of the big German, Dirk ... he and the Mavericks need all they can get going into Popovich's den.

One thing I've ALWAYS loved about the good wheat beer: FOAM!!!

I think I'll try to pour one as lightly as I can, just to see how small a head I can make -- I bet I can't go less than an inch. This thing is like a Belgian.

The relatively low ABV is also nice. This brew reminds me very much of Duvel or a Belgian tripel, but it comes in more sessionable range of 5.1%.

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/39/132/?ba=Premo88

I didn't give it big, big numbers, but that's mostly because I'm dumb, don't know much about hefeweizens and am still learning to enjoy them. The bottom line for me is thumbs up or thumbs down, and this is definitely a thumbs up -- I'll try it again and probably soon. I'd like to line up 2-3 different hefeweizens to compare, and this one will serve as my foundation from which to learn.

No Midnight the Cat sightings today -- he got in a fight Monday and is nursing a banged up ear. Poor little dude. In his stead, though, is Huevos the Dog, who was most interested in everything BUT my good beer (little puppy dog, lower right).

    Enjoy your Easter Sundays!

Is your Sam Smith's glass scored on the bottom to help keep a constant head? Just curious ...

That beer sounds (and looks) good if they pulled it off.

Whoa, this one is rather strong with booze. Rather dry from aging in French oak wine barrels. The cherry flavor is there, but it comes off a bit medicinal. There is definitely a wine aspect to it. Decent beer, but not exceptional IMO.

Cigar City Forgotten Island (Quadrupel ale aged in Appleton Estate Rum Barrels) 15% abv.

The barrel lends notes of vanilla, molasses, orange peel, cocoa, brown sugar, nutmeg, hazelnut, apricot and peach. This plethora of flavors and aromas from the rum barrels intermingles with banana, clove, cinnamon, fig, plum and brown sugar aromatics and flavors from the quadrupel, creating a crescendo of elegance in a long flavorful finale. Happy Easter!

I was a bit nonplussed by that one as well. What really bummed me out was that back in the mid-aughts, when Fish's Leavenworth line was strictly kegged, I had a dunkelweizen from them that seemed really spot-on.

Ah, I remember when I could get exited about the NBA. Then they hauled away the Sonics and I attempted to become a Pistons fan. They somehow sensed this and immediately went into a nosedive...

    @woemad

I picked that one up while hunting some Andechs offerings. I was happy to find the doppelbock but disappointed that they didn't have their dunkelweizen. Hard to find good, fresh dunkelweizens, American made versions in particular. In my desperation I made a rare, blind purchase...
