I put either wheat or oats in all my IPAs.

Careful, BAs... oats are considered a beer adjunct! :grimacing: Oh no!

In case my sarcasm is too subtle, that is meant to be very tongue-in-cheek... I have no problem with adjuncts in beer. I call them flavors.

Oats are used in a few session IPAs that I know of. They add body without extra abv/malt to what is otherwise a thin bodied "style".

I did intend to refer to the BLACK IPA style. I just wrongly assumed this Oatmeal IPAs were black.

Sorry I was unclear... I know you used the black IPA term correctly. I was only commenting on what appeared to be confusion over oatmeal IPAs being black. I assumed you thought oatmeal IPAs were black because the only other beer style with 'oatmeal' in the name is the oatmeal stout, which happens to be black in color. So, it would an easy mistake for anyone to think oatmeal = black.

Maine Beer Company's "A Tiny Beautiful Something" is awesome.

I just noticed 6pks (cans) of a local oat pale ale, but I haven't tried it yet. I suspect we may be seeing more of these pop up. I'm all for it.

I didn't realize that was brewed with oatmeal! Awesome beer - nuanced and incredibly well-crafted

Guess I can't read past the first word anymore. I blame the internet. Anyhow, while also not an IPA, Burnside in Portland makes a tasty Oatmeal APA. Amazing body, and still plenty hoppy when you get it fresh.

I'd recommend you give it a try. Oatmeal doesn't add much discernible flavor, especially in the face of highly-hopped IPAs.

Surly Abrasive is an oatmeal IIPA, which you probably didn't even know if you've drank it.

Not exactly oatmeal, but Dogfish Head's American Beauty was pretty solid.

Had one at Manayunk Brewing in Philly. Very good. The oats add some extra mouth feel.
