Heading to OBX (Kitty Hawk) from Boston in august with the fam. I've done some initial research of course fellow beer nerds are the best sources of info on local beer. I'll of course be dragging some Trillium & others with me but I'm asking what are so go-to spots for buying beer close to Kitty Hawk & definitely would love some recommendations on specific beers & breweries to pick up. Although I'd more be interested in local beers I'm open to non-local beers that are distrod there (& not MA) too. It's a family vacay so I can't be running around everywhere so I'm probably limited to local beer stores. Seems Chips & Trio are the ones to hit from what I've seen.

    Thanks!

You answered your own question. Trio and Chips are the best bets and right there where you are. Can also check out Outer Banks Brewing Station.

What styles of beer are you looking for?IF you just want something local, the closest breweries (who package beer) that I can think of are OBX Brewing Station, Weeping Radish, Duck Rabbit and Mother Earth. Lots of other breweries from other parts of the state distribute to the OBX also.

Chips and Trio will definitely have the best selection, you shouldn't need to go anywhere else.

This comes up a lot around this time of year. Not much has changed, these threads and more will answer all your questions.

Honestly I don't even stop by Chips anymore, they are unlikely to have anything Trio doesn't have, and Trio will certainly have more choices. Just take your time and look around as things are stacked everywhere, and bottle dates for hoppy stuff can vary wildly. You can usually find some Westbrook, WW (oops?), Almanac, and I look out for Olde Hickory when I'm down there, I'd guess you will see plenty that doesn't distro to MA.
Stop by brewing station as the food is pretty solid and you try something local. I wouldn't bother with Weeping Radish unless you are in the mood for sausages.

Honestly all styles. I like everything. Maybe less on the stouts since it'll be hot but I wouldn't pass up a good one. Trio looks very close to where we'll be staying so I'll hit them up. Do you guys get any Burial stuff out there? Nice to see Westbrook & I'll have to try some Olde Hickory. Thanks fellers
