The latter has always been me. Love being an anonymous friend to thousands.

I'll do day trips or, maybe, one overnight. The biggest disadvantage is not having a group of friends from whom you can select the least obviously impaired to drive. I've come to an age where I can't safely have more than two flights of four and drive myself back. (Fortunately, I've also come to an age where I realize that I can't).

Every once in a while, I do like being totally anonymous in a crowd, listening to all the conversations but not being under any pressure to impress anybody or, even, not make a total ass of myself.

    I don't think there'd be much of a difference.

This is not one of those 'married with kids' kind of a thread. I barely have enough time and/or money to go on a one week vacation with my family in the summer. In fact this year I will not be taking any sort of a vacation. I will however schedule to go some to local breweries with some friends on at least a few weekends...

I travel for work a few times a month and always alone. I make it a point to hit a local taproom/brewery and I always sit at the bar. You might be surprised at how many people there are out there who just want to sit and talk about beer.

Beer people are nice people it turns out (for the most part).

I love taking beercations by myself although it has been several years since I have done one. I take solo day trips all the time though. I travel a bit for work but I always have a coworker or three tagging along. Can be a drag if they are not into beer, but sometimes I travel with someone that is also beer geeky, or at least open minded. That is usually fun as well.

I was going to say that when you're solo, you make all the rules, but I treat my passengers like hostages anyway, so it's really a moot point.

    Close, outside of Schroon Lake.

A lot of my solo beering has also been done in Philly and outlying areas (delco/Montco mostly).

Beer is better when experienced with others, no?

Fun to drink, fun to talk about, fun to debate. I mean, how much time do we spend on these boards!

Travel solo, but post an itinerary. Maybe you'll get to meet some of the awesome people on BA.

Both of those are generally updated seasonally, so check again before you head up. Although, a lot of the info tends to stay the same, new places open, and sometimes places change.

When you travel alone you get to do whatever you want. I prefer to travel with friends so it's cheaper and I have someone to hang out with in the slower times.

Yeah, it's amazing how friendly people can become after knocking back a couple beers!

I like being out by myself. I can hang out with a book/magazine/newspaper/phone and a beer if I don't want to be bothered, or strike up a conversation with the person next to me if I do.

I've done several solo Beercations, and I've done them in both Portland and Seattle. I had a great time but of course doing something by yourself and how you'll like is a more of a function of YOU. I will say that if I had to do a third trip, Portland would win hands-down. Get your Uber setup and know the public transport and you'll be golden. There's no one to bounce decisions off of, and you'll probably see a lot more alone than with other people.
