Live in Milwaukee but I'm going back to my real home in the NW burbs for a couple days at the end of the month. What should I stock up on at Binny's this time? First choice was going to be everything Pipeworks, but I'm sure there are new breweries to try by now.
Not sure last time you bought stuff from Illinois, but Pipeworks has canned more stuff recently (Glaucus the newest, Lil Citra on the horizon) and each Monday it seems a different bomber of something comes out from them. So, depending on where you go, you might be able to get a few bombers of different things. For example this week coffee pale ale came out. Last week a was a milk stout End of Days, the week before an imperial IPA called Sunburst Peacock. Revolution has a solid lineup too. And Mikerphone is easier to get in the city, I agree with seeking their stuff out.
I'll echo anything Pipeworks and Mikerphone has some recent good releases. Ill add, if you like porters, grab a sixer of Rugged Coalminer from Scorched Earth. Phenomenal porter.
Just had Drago for the first time, totally agree. Mikerphone will be hard to find (at least, the more hyped stuff), but yeah, keep your eye out. End of the month when? Because Half Acre is releasing Galactic Double Daisy Cutter next Friday, and I'd imagine some will spill into stores (and instantly sell out).
I've only seen Mikerphone at Bottles and Cans. If I can invent an excuse to deal with the city, it's happening. Around May 31st, so there better be some Double Daisy Cutter left then.
I enjoyed Marz Community Double Jungle Boogie... Was recommended to me when I stopped in Capones for a city trip.
One other suggestion if this is up your alley: März Earl Ragnar is wonderful - Barrel aged (4 Roses) Belgian Strong Ale - albeit a bit pricey. Well worth trying/buying if you get the chance.
