Pomegranate Fizz
Created at Virtue Feed & Grain in Alexandria, Va.
Thrasher says he wanted to create one of Virtue’s signature “hoptails” utilizing pomegranate after being inspired by Saranac’s Pomegranate Wheat beer. Thrasher describes this drink as “foamy, rich, pomegranate goodness. A perfect mix of sweet and sour flavor—the sour flavor comes from the pomegranate molasses.”
1 1/2 oz pomegranate beer, such as Saranac Pomegranate Wheat
1 1/2 oz pomegranate juice
3/4 oz vodka
3/4 oz bourbon
1/2 oz pomegranate molasses, plus more for garnish
1 tsp confectioners sugar
1 each egg white
ice
An hour before you make the cocktail, open the beer to dissipate some of the carbonation. Combine the beer, juice, vodka, bourbon, molasses, confectioners sugar and egg white in a cocktail shaker, and shake to combine. Fill the small side of the shaker with ice, and shake well. Strain into a glass; top with a decorative drizzle of pomegranate molasses, if desired. ■
