Brewbicle: Smart Beer Cellaring

Innovation by | May 2012 | Issue #64

If your beer cellar looks more like a disaster area, the Brewbicle might be just for you. The brainchild of Jon Buck and Dan Belfry, the Brewbicle was born out of necessity.

“Brewbicle came about when Jon and I started to cellar beer and began to amass a wide assortment of wine boxes and other containers,” Belfry says. “We found that boxes weren’t stable when stacked, didn’t hold up well to repeated openings and closings, and left something to be desired for accommodating different bottle sizes. Not to mention the aesthetic eyesore of a stack of boxes. When we looked around, there were no storage options designed specifically for beer, as shelving leaves bottles susceptible to UV light, while wine coolers are expensive, store bottles on their sides and have limited capacities.”

Made of sturdy fiberboard, with leather handles and aluminum hardware, the Brewbicle provides a secure, stackable and attractive way to age your beer. Specially designed inserts allow the beers to be stored snugly upright, holding 25 12-ounce bottles or 16 22-ounce or 750-milliliter bottles per Brewbicle. The Brewbicles nest atop one another, providing a sturdy environment for stacking. And each Brewbicle offers a slide-out dry-erase film on the lid so you can mark the contents and check them without having to open the boxes or scribble on the sides of each one.

Brewbicles can even be customized with logo or label. The cost is $45 each, with a price break for multiples.
