BREW-K: When Flowers Won’t Do
Beer is, of course, a great gift. But sometimes a six-pack with a bow stuck on top just doesn’t say enough. And flowers are fine, but there are times when they aren’t appropriate—and some people just aren’t the “flowers type.”
Matt Rogos blends the two together, creating a beer bouquet called the BREW-K. The BREW-K is a sturdy cardboard stand that holds seven 12-ounce beer cans or bottles on the top section and five cans in the base, totaling a 12-pack of beer. The base can also hold specialty items, like poker chips and cigars for game night, popcorn for a movie or golf balls and tees for a golf event.
“First, you give a gift of beer, which is certainly a plus. But by giving it in a special package, you convey to [the recipient] that you went over and above in your beer giving,” Rogos says. “By having a very unique package, it shows that more thought went into the gift rather than passing by the grocery store on the way and getting a six-pack because you didn’t have anything else to bring.”
Rogos adds that the BREW-K doesn’t come with the beers, but that gives the gift-giver more room to personalize it. The website’s photos may portray some macros, but customers like Mike Bucy are filling theirs with craft beer.
“I purchased the Bubbly BREW-K and gave it to my neighbor for his birthday,” Bucy says. “I filled it with an assortment of microbrew bottles, and he was blown away by the ingenuity of the BREW-K. … It was sturdy enough to transport the bottles in presentation and disassemble for multiple uses.” Bucy adds that he’s got another order on the way, too.
Rogos printed a Halloween BREW-K this year and is working on designs for the upcoming holidays. He can also print limited quantities for personal occasions, like milestone birthdays.
At $9.99 each, the BREW-K is more expensive than a factory-produced cardboard six-pack holder. But it certainly makes a much bigger impression. Get more info at BREW-K.com. ■
