330ml Can, Home Bargains:
Disappointing stuff here sadly, this one was quite a bland & light offering that thankfully didn't have any skunk or off-flavours showing but wasn't really that enjoyable either. It opened with some grassy flavours, hay & basic citrus with a little caramel sweetness further on but it was unexciting & had a poor balance; not a beer that I'd have again.

No bomble on the label.
Amber colour. Medium frothy head.
Spice, hops and tea on the nose.
Little flavour but this reflects the bouquet. Light dry finish.
Not as bad as most reviews suggest.

A - Fizzy light amber/yellow big rocky white foam head. Retention is around average and there is mild lacing.

s - Actually quite floral in the nose, the dry hopping is apparent and the hop aroma comes through well.

T - Pretty straight up. Floral with fruity hops and a crisp slightly spicy edge. Very slightly sweet, followed by a subdued bitterness upon swallowing.

MF - Low body but smooth enought and a nice dry finish.

Overall - Again this is not actually bad for what it is. Like the Lawn mower this beer is more than drinkable and is pretty well balanced and rather tasty.

A 330ml can with a BB of June 2015. Purchased recently from a supermarket. The name and label are slightly different for this UK version; simply called The Bee 17. Hopped with Saaz and Willamette.

A: Poured into a cervoise. A rich amber colour with some floating sediment and light carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of floral hops with hints of grass/hay, subtle fruitiness, faint white pepper, light malt and delicate yeast esters. Quite nice.

T: Tastes of floral, fruity hops with a crisp, spicy finish. Notes of grass/hay, noble hops, mild white grape, subtle spice, light malt, yeast esters and faint stewed leaves. A twinge of harshness in the background. Very slightly sweet, followed by a subdued bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with soft carbonation and light body. Some mild hop oils tickle the palate. Lightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of stewed hops/leaves, grass/hay, faint malt and a touch of cardboard.

O: Coming from a major macro-brewer this is surprisingly decent (though no world-beater). Average looks, while the aroma and flavour are crisp and lightly hoppy with hints of grassiness. Body is alright for the style. Goes down without complaint; in fact this would probably be rather good on a warm day. Worth trying if you come across it.

You can actually taste some of the saaz
& it is pretty solid MF
Just don't like being conned

Marketed in the UK as Bee 17 after the flying fortress of the American Eighth Air Force during WW2, this beer is half way decent, could grow to like it very much but I wish Carlsberg would not market these as craft beers.

Half decent, not craft.

A: Clear golden with a medium tall white, a bit uneven head. Some lacings.

S: Grainy malts, but the corn lures in the back... Bitter hops. Marzipan, never a good thing in a Lager. White bread.

T: Very mild and smooth. Malty but with corny notes. Bitter hops. Some citric notes in the back. Buttery.

M: Long bitter and creamy aftertaste. Creamy, almost oily body, medium full. Carbonation is on the lower side.

O: Very creamy, almost buttery - and that's the biggest problem with this beer; it's so creamy that it's almost oily.

A: golden yellow, clear. Two finger high foam (warm white), leaves lacings on the glass.

S: grassy, sweet, hops.

T: not really that bitter for being "hop-struck" but the hop taste is there, but the malt sweetness is the most noticable taste. It's got a buttery aftertaste with notes of white bread.

M: carbonation is medium high, smooth liquid.

O: it's an alright beer for it's price, but it's overly sweet in my opinion. More bitterness would have made it more balanced and simply better.

The colour is gold (7 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger head is off-white and compact. It sinks slowly leaving some lacing.

The smell is light with some english/german hops. Notes of marzipan, grass, and fresh hops. Candy sweetness and an odd hint of fresh fish.

The taste is malty with clean sweet notes, medium bitterness and a touch of caramel and bitter herbs. The hoppy flavours tastes like hay and dried flowers. Medium body. The creamy aftertaste got growing artificial sweet flavours (saccharine, cheap candy) and some flowery green hops. White bread in the finish.

The carbonation is medium to strong, the small bubbles short-lived. The liquid is semi-smooth.

Although this beer is marketed as a “pilsener with refreshing bitterness”, I think that it lacks bittering hops to match the sweetness and the hay-ish hop flavours.
