Served in a snifter glass from the can.

Appearance: Thick dark black chocolate syrup with a super deep dark tan head rising little high; maybe three quarters of an inch off the body.

Smell: Chocolate chip cookies and molassed but lacks potency. Delightful to inhale but needs a touch tweaking.

Taste: Complex sweet brew consisting of espresso and vanilla ice cream with hints of brown sugar and touch salt.

Mouth: Sticky brew, might be the strongest characteristic of the beer. After taste doesn't leave, medium carbonation and super full body.

Overall: Good beer, wouldn't drink one back to back with another due to I not knowing the level of lactose in the brew. Always in a glass, Salud!

Pours deep brown to Black with a thin fizzy mocha colored head. Nose is of spice. Cinnamon, allspice, clove and coffee. Initial taste is a burst of roast coffee up front smoothed out by lactos that creates a sort of creaminess to the coffee like frothed milk does to a latte. Notes of cinnamon and spice through out. Slightly creamy body with a touch of heat from the alcohol but surprisingly smooth for the abv.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a finger and a half high mocha colored head that gradually died down but consistently left a thin head covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of chocolate malts and coffee beans are present in the nose along with faint bits of cinnamon.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the flavors are a little stronger and there are faint bits of sweetness from the lactose.
M: It feels a little more than medium-bodied on the palate and has quite smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is exceptionally drinkable given its strength and has no traces of alcohol whatsoever in the taste. In some aspects, with the chocolate and lactose it reminds me a little like drinking an adult version of a chocolate shake.

like so many of these flavored stouts out there, i could do without the lactose in this one, its sweet enough with the grain sugary middle and the extended body, but its cool they dont rely on chocolate or vanilla to get this level of depth, and its cinnamon in a little bit of a new context here. lets start with the base beer though, which could easily stand on its own as awesome even without these extra ingredients, its huge, sturdy, smooth, roasty and rich, and complex, the coffee melding right in and bringing up some of the darker grains and roasted bitterness, a great add for sure and very fresh. the alcohol is well hidden too but it still feels huge, short of sticky but long and full and wighty on the palate and teeth and in the belly. the cinnamon flavor here is awesome, warming but short of candied or hot, natural and earthy and sort of mexican to me, makes sense for their san diego brewery, i feel it in the throat and in lingers on the tongue, nicely complex for not having all the other usual suspects in here. i taste it forever with the dark grain too, and get some hot chocolate and clove notes as well, heaps of body too. its sweet for sure, it would be more balanced and less desserty without the added lactose, but i know thats a personal preference and more of a subjective critique. this is a wicked beer, wonderful use of cinnamon, chai-like with all the ooffee in here. delicious!

Collab between Mikkeller San Diego and Barrier and Thin Man, featuring coffee, cinnamon, and lactose...

Pours a viscous inky black, producing a big, thick head of dark brown foam cascading into the jet black body... A solid take on the imperial stout... Leans toward the sweet end of the spectrum, but not too far... Rich, bittersweet chocolate malts provide the firm backbone, with a mellow coffee flavor running throughout... Impressions of licorice and vanilla circulate freely, with a burnt char around the edges affording some drying to the beer... The cinnamon is very mild, and puts just a hint of tingle on the back-end, but it is easily lost in the big, dark body of the beer... What I assume to be a Julian date on the can indicates it was brewed on the 129th day of the year, 5/9/18...

16oz can poured into large snifter

Very dark color, edging on black. A heavy pour yields a half glass of dense, dark brown foam. Nice lacing. There is a burst of cinnamon on the nose followed by milk chocolate. First sip gives me a lot of milk chocolate and the cinnamon just kinda comes in to play afterward. Dark roast coffee from start to finish. Very smooth and slick on the tongue. Nice brew.

On tap at Thin Man Brewery in Buffalo, NY. This is a collaboration between Mikkeller SD, Thin Man, and Barrier.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like creamy cinnamon, vanilla, milk chocolate, roasted malt, and lots of coffee.

This has an absolutely killer creaminess to it, with a spot-on amount of cinnamon. The coffee flavor is rich, and dark, with a great fudgy aspect to the base beer.

This is really amazingly creamy, with absolutely no booziness to it, and a lower level of carbonation.

This is a great collaboration that shows the great skill of all breweries involved.
