Opaque black with some ruby highlights and a decent and lasting tan head and some nice lacing.
The aroma is dark roasted malt - dark chocolate, pumpernickel bread, caramel, hints of coffee and brown sugar.
The taste is likewise dark chocolate, toasted pumpernickel, caramel and brown sugar with hints of smoke/char and hazelnuts, slightly sweet. The finish is dry with slight herbal/grassy hops, mild bitterness.
The body is medium, moderate carbonation, smooth and very drinkable. Altogether, this is a pretty decent Irish dry stout, tasty and very drinkable, worked well with corned beef and cabbage, as it should, well done.

12oz can pours a deep brown-black color with a small head of creamy khaki-colored foam that fades down to a thick ring while leaving plenty of lacing. Smells of dark roasted malts, rich chocolate, coffee, and syrup. Rich, complex flavor of roasted and burnt malts and coffee. Very subtle sweetness with a sour-bitter finish. Medium body with a very smooth mouthfeel and basically no carbonation feel at all.
This was a nice stout. I would have loved to see some of the chocolate note from the aroma in the flavor and more carbonation, but it was still very good as is. We need more Irish stouts like this that rise above the mediocrity so common in the style.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, and herbal; with lighter notes of molasses, coffee, nuttiness, smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, and herbal; with lighter notes of molasses, coffee, nuttiness, smoke, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of darkl/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/hop bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very nice dry stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of darkl/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, easy, and quite refreshing to drink. Great malt complexity with balancing hop character. A very enjoyable offering.

From a 12 ounce bottle, this brew is a black, opaque color with a slim tan head. The aroma is of roasted grain and coffee...along with a bit of bakers chocolate. The beer is dry, balanced, and easy to drink. Medium in body and robust. Straightforward stout.

Great craftsmanship in a stout! Deepest ale, almost the flavor of dark deeply steeped tea, but, with a frothy creamy head and gives a cocoa-ish palate with a refreshing clean finish. Perfectly dry. This is the best brew at the brewery and I have sampled all of them available this season. Price is great, too. Will purchase again! Also, the root beer is perfection. If you take the tour you will find out that it is made from real root-beer (sarsaparilla) and no artificial flavors infused with molasses and pure cane sugar liquor. It is 5 stars!

Surprised this doesn't have more ratings.
Gets points here for being an absolute blackout, with slight chocolate edges when held up to the light. Head starts off tall at 3 fingers, almond color, and fades to a half finger after a few minutes.
Smells like one of those Hostess Chocolate Pies, or maybe an Eclair. Plenty of roast maltiness behind that with no hint of bitterness or off-aromas; instead for balance it introduces some coffee acidity.
Flavor is a watered down version of what's above, but adds more coffee, cocoa, and roast dark malts. Incredibly sessionable though, super refreshing.
If you're looking for mouthfeel, this one is not the way to go. Feel is thin and moderately carbonated, drying slightly acidic on the finish.
I can't hate on this beer too bad, after all it tastes pretty good and drinks easy. It is not however a thick stout, or an overly flavorful stout; but it has nice roast character and some great chocolate fudge and light coffee notes throughout. I'd buy it again, for sure.
