Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewing Co pint glass
A: Pours slightly hazy golden amber with a frothy of white heat that settles to a light layer and laces well.
S: Big citrus with underlying tropical fruit, spicy pine, crackery biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.
T: Citrus, grapefruit, lemon, and orange, spicy pine, slowly gives way to underlying fruity notes, guava, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, and apricot, a hint of white grape, crackery biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Just a touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, dangerously drinkable for 8%.
O: Given the name I was expecting this to be more of a single hopped Nelson DIPA. That said, it's a really damn good West Coast DIPA with some character.

I have always been a sucker for Port beers (under The Lost Abbey/The Hop Concept umbrella) and was excited to see this new one. Untappd description read, “This tropical, dry, medium-bodied paradise is brewed with Cascade, Centennial, Simcoe & Nelson, then dry-hopped with Galaxy & Nelson giving it hints of pineapple, guava & honey dew on the nose.” Huh. Name should be Nelson & Nelson & Cascade & Simcoe & Galaxy. Either way, was looking forward to it.
Poured a golden clear color with 5-to-6 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Perfect, thick, foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled pineapple, guava, tangerine, orange, Nelson, peach, pine and Cascade. Initially wasn’t getting any Centennial, Simcoe or Galaxy. Not much more from the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste was about as good as the nose. Was hoping for more. Got pineapple, guava, tangerine, bitter orange peel, peach, Nelson, pine, Cascade, spicy Simcoe and black pepper. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Dry finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Man, I wanted this to be better. I guess I was hoping it would be similar to Space Ways by Modern Times, but not even close. Very good though. (Overall - 3.75)

No date? Poured from a tall-boy can into my Bruery tulip.
Clear marigold/golden-poppy gradient with a fat finger of champagne foam. Thick soapy lacing; excellent retention.
Sweet, characteristic gooseberry/lychee/mango aromatics with subtle floral notes as well.
Fruit-forward palate entry with a sophisticated tropical burst, immediately punctuated and subsumed by a wave of spicy all-spice/pink peppercorn notes. Moderately bitter, growing increasingly dry, but finishing only medium-dry with the spice notes merging with the faint heat from the alcohol eventually. Crackery/clean malt bill - well balanced yet muscular, with maximum flavor from the hops.
Soft, medium mouth-feel, pillow-y yet refreshing in a way - warming but not hot. Well carbonated.
A superior SoCal style double IPA - a more spice-forward expression of Nelson, although the nose certainly doesn't lead you to expect this, focusing more on fruit/floral characteristics. Good value too!
