Poured a nice fairly deep amber.
Pretty big head, with matching lacing.
Smells was of grainy, bready malts with a whisper of hops.
Taste was pretty good,. Had a good malty flavor, grainy and earthy. Caramel malts detected with a nice balance of hops.
Pretty solid brew.

On tap at ABW on 1/26/08.
A - Clear copper body with small off-white head. No noticeable carbonation in the body.
S - Not much here, unfortunately. Some faint bready malt and sweet caramel paired with a barely noticeable noble hop aroma.
T - Odd medicinal taste, but not as off-putting as the copper ale. Some bready malt accompanied by a faint hop bitterness. Perhaps there's something in the water they use during the brewing process.
M - Medium body with a slightly bitter finish. Not much carbonation at all.
D - Better than the copper ale, but could benefit from a cleaner, more crisp finish and some more discernable hop and malt aromas and flavors.

The flavors here are a little bigger than a traditional ESB, so you might say its a bit Americanized. The malt profile here has a great mix of caramel, toffee and mild cocoa that gets capped off by a citrus and grassy hop bite. Really an ideal session beer with good flavor and drinkability. Nothing groundbreaking here, just a well made beer that can kick a little ass.
