We're proud to present Spontanaheim, an homage to tradition and a testament to our team's dedication to the craft. Brewed using traditional Belgian methods of turbid mashing and spontaneous fermentation, with the wild winds of Anaheim imparting unique flavors. After 18-24 months of aging in our Puncheon Pyramid, we tasted and hand-selected our favorite barrels, which were then masterfully blended to taste. Funky, complex, tart, and crisp — made only for our most avid enthusiasts.

2019 bottle opened in 2026. Pours a nice murky orange with white head that dissipates quickly. The nose is awesome. Peaches, apricot, sour patch kids, lemon sour candy.
The taste is really good. Sour as hell. Sour patch kids, lemon heads, apricot, earth, grass, malts, and a bit of vanilla. Really nice.
The mouthfeel is light bodied with a funky and sour aftertaste.

Shiz, we've knocked out 2019 & 2020, I think 2021 and 2022 are left to go, let's start a review and adjust accordingly in the future.
Pours a light amber color. I guess blonde ale + wood = amber. Fails to retain a head. Booo. The aroma was surprisingly "authentic" regarding spontaneous fermentation if you will, legitimate bugs from the wood and minerality detected. Good hay and lemon feel, I like it.
Taste certainly in the Bruery "hella sour" mode, but thankfully the abv and acidity are in tolerable levels mouthfeel wise. Body seems heavier than your normal blonde ale. It seems noticeably better than their innoculated wild ale program. Little hit of citric acid beyond just lemon, leaning into orange divvied up with some green apple. There are some similarities with ol' Duck Duck Goooooze. Substitute goods and all. Wood stays noticeable at every stage pretty much. thereby contributing to a light back end dryness in the house. Thus far I've preferred them slightly younger.

on tap at their new idaho location, way cool! this is lambic-esque, really impressive on the wild side, the kind of beer i hoped would come with this place, and now it has, these guys have been doing stuff like this really well for a long time! 2022 vintage here, rusty orange tinted, not quite clear, and at first with some head, but the dude filled my glass so full to the brim that there really wasnt room for it, fine carbonation levels in the beer though, this isnt still or anything. amazing aroma of true lambic funk, bretty and musty and old worldy, a little oxidation which works here, subtle yellow peach and white wine grape, heaps and heaps of wet ancient oak, great depth and complexity to this, is it methode traditionnelle? seems like it could be, that authentic. the flavor is white wine and stone fruit to me, dried apricots, rich french chardonnay, new and old oak at the same time, lots of mature brett, citrusy tang, iodine, pencil shavings, rubber, soil, and just a bit more malt sweetness than many of these have, but i wouldnt call it sugary or anything. even an aged hop herbal funkiness too, maybe theyve used them in this. really neat stuff, perhaps less unique on the fermentation side than i thought it would be, more brussels than california that is, but really good, fuller feeling than some, complex and warms up real well, an impressive and labor intensive beer, so glad it came out to idaho!

750 ml capped and corked bottle, 2021 vintage. Served in a Teku, the beer pours a somewhat hazy gold color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like apricots, funk, hay, lemony citrus and some oak. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some green apple, vanilla and green grape flavors. Nice and sour tasting! Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's easy to drink with a moderate amount of soft carbonation. I liked this one a lot, certainly worth trying if you like oak aged sour blonde ales!

2021 edition. Pours a golden yellow, a little hazy, with a few fingers of thick white foam. Significant effervescence. The nose is tart, smooth, and slightly wheaty. The flavor is tart, sour, and smooth. It's hard to judge much about the base beer as the tartness covers most of it. Almost like smarties. Light bodied.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a slightly hazed golden orange topped by a dense and slightly rocky two finger white head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of clean and pleasant sourness, oak, slight funk, and hints of citrus
T: Taste brings light sourness, light oak, hints of vanilla, some nice citrus, hints of funk, and a touch of cracker like malt. On the swallow there's a nice blast of citric sourness, oak, vanilla, grape skin, light funk, and lingering tartness.
M: This beer has a moderate amount of body with a slightly creamy feel on the palate. Carbonation is lightly effervescent but it is not prickly while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is an awesome beer. It has some great flavors and a really nice amount of complexity. There's a lot going on and it's very subtle which makes this a very interesting and enjoyable beer to drink. Definitely one to try and I look forward to seeing how this one changes in the bottle.

Growler filled September 3, 2019
Appearance: Fairly cloudy straw-yellow color with a small sized white head that subsided to a thin white cap.
Smell: Mild barnyard funk, citrus aromas, and grassy hay notes. The nose is forward and inviting.
Taste: Grapefruit/lemon notes, hay notes, and mild barnyard funk notes come through in the taste. The beer finishes dry with notes of leather on the tail end.
Mouth-feel: Light to medium bodied with a modest level of carbonation. A satisfying mouthful.
Overall: When I was getting my bottles and picking up this crowler, one of the Bruery staff was commenting on how the Bruery took a chance on spontaneous fermenting this beer. It paid off, so far this is my favorite of all the American spontaneous fermented Wild Ales I've had that I can remember ( I've had Lost Abbey DDG a long time ago but memories are fuzzy). This worked out well to produce a nice beer.
