2020 Vintage
375ml bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that has short retention

S- classic BT base aroma; malty, boozy, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits. As it warms, undertones of coconut cream emerge, followed by pineapple and a hint of vanilla. The barrel eventually emerges, adding oak and bourbon

T- although it wasn't strong in the initial aroma, this variant is noticed immediately with a mix of creamy coconut and juicy pineapple up front. Mid-palate gives chocolate, caramel, Tootsie Roll Pop and fig. The finish brings out the barrel, adding oaky barrel juice and an enhancing note that brings out the vanilla addition. Lingers of boozy chocolate, oak, coconut cream and pineapple

M- heavy body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel turns creamy into a velvety, warming finish

O- the pineapple and coconut make this a much more drinkable beer. BT is a chore to drink, simply because of it's abv and booziness. But the addition of these tropical flavors make it much more balanced, without letting any tart fruit notes creep out

Reaching back into the cellar, I opted for Love At Midnight. The beer is almost five years old. I am using a stemless Hoarders glass, and the serving temperature is 50 degrees. The pour did create a frothy half-finger. The appearance is average; I enjoyed seeing some head retention. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. The color is pitch black with reddish-brown hues, charting an SRM of 32, and is opaque. The appearance is average. I would have liked to see a longer-lasting head, but I understand this is a high-ABV beer.
Nosing the glass, I detect notes of chocolate, pineapple, coconut, vanilla, molasses, coffee, dark roasted malts, bourbon, char, caramel toffee, raisins, a hint of leather, and earthiness. The beer has a chocolate-covered pineapple vibe.
The flavors begin with dark chocolate enveloped with pineapple and a dusting of coconut. The barrel-aging process yields notes of bourbon, char, caramel, toffee, and oak with a warming finish. The other flavors are molasses, vanilla, medium coffee, leather, earthiness, toffee, dark roasted malts, and malty sweetness.
Final Thought: The beer is delicious; it has a pina colada vibe with notes of chocolate and vanilla. The barrel age provides much-needed depth to offset the sweetness. The aging helped with the warming, finishing it off—an excellent finish to a long day.

Black color. Medium-sized, beige head. Chocolate, pineapple, roasted malt, bourbon, and vanilla in the aroma. Malty, moderately sweet taste with long long-lasting, warm finish.

Bottled on 9/11/2020; consumed on 5/6/2025

Pours a dense, brownish black body capped with fast-forming, finger and a half of beige cap, quickly hissing to a blank surface, slim, frothy collar, and minimal-no traces of lacing around the walls of the glass.

Aroma wafts hints of pineapple upside-down cake to open as Dole pineapple isolates into focus while whiffs of whipped coconut cream build into contrast with oncoming roast and pangs of whiskey barrel inflection.

Taste offers wisps of pineapple and a hint of dark fruit upfront; flaky cacao alternates with bittersweet chocolate over the mid-palate as burnt coconut husk counters richer vanilla caviar on the back end and a modest barrel char finishes.

Mouthfeel features a body on the lighter end of medium along with a modest spritz of carbonation; somewhat slick textures ease into a mid-palate dried via building barrel heat, leaving a moderate bitterness/char taut through the finish.

A unique, assertive, and ambitious barrel-aged stout executing its adjuncted eccentricities to an appreciable deft degree; another fun Black Tuesday variant.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with no head or lacing.

This smells like candied pineapple, milk chocolate, roast, dark fruit, bourbon, oak, and coconut.

This could have been messy, but it worked fairly well here, with heavy duty and sweet pina colada vibes. There’s lots of chocolate, like a chocolate covered pineapple or something, with swete creamy coconut, and a nice oaky barrel character.

This is thick, and not too boozy, with a decent enough drinkability.

This could have been a disaster, as fruited stouts can get a bit wacky, but the Bruery seems to do fruit well in stouts.

A: Poured into a snifter to a black beer which is topped by a dense and slightly rocky two finger tan head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of pineapple sweetness, toasted coconuts, vanilla, some bourbon barrel influence and some roasted malts.
T: Taste is sweet pineapple up front, coconuts, and vanilla. Bourbon barrel and a touch of molasses is there along with some roasted malts and chocolate with a touch of coffee but mostly adjuncts coming in wave after wave. On the finish there's more pineapple, coconuts, vanilla, bourbon barrel, molasses and roasted malts.
M: This beer has a body which is on the heavier side of medium. Carbonation is lightly effervescent while the beer has a drying finish due to the ABV.
O: Overall this was really good. Maybe a little heavy on the adjuncts but still enjoyable to drink.

Look: deep dark brown, some cola highlights when held to light. Slight head on the pour that disappears except for a wisp here and there.
Smell: subtle pineapple, and vanilla, hints of coconut. And that wonderful BT base.
Taste: not getting the distinct flavors of the additions, but a very nice combo of creamy fruit. Pineapple shows up in the finish along with that roasty BT goodness.
