Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with pecans and maple syrup

Mmmm, a fresh maple pecan pie— in beer form! Inspired by our 2020 Black Tuesday Box variant You Wanna Piece of Me, we recreated this delectable imperial stout by adding pecans, maple syrup, and natural maple flavor to Black Tuesday for the perfect balance of flavors— rich, sweet, and slightly savory. Save room for dessert, and save me a slice of this treat!

Bought this one on a trip to The Bruery back in November 2021. Was really looking forward to it. Untappd description called for a “Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with pecans and maple syrup Mmmm, a fresh maple pecan pie— in beer form! Poured a chestnut brown color with four fingers of khaki-tan frothy-to-fizzy head. Could see lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Very good watery lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled pecan, maple syrup, brown sugar, plum, raisin, toasted caramel, chocolate syrup, hints of vanilla cream and milk chocolate. A smidgeon better out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)

First thought on the taste was how smooth it was for 18.7 pct. (!). Tasted pecan, maple syrup, plum, brown sugar, raisin, date, toasted caramel, toffee, sugary chocolate syrup, vanilla cream, milk chocolate and purple grape. (Taste - 4.25)

Full body. Sticky texture. Average-to-soft carbonation. Long, smooth finish. Felt nowhere near 18.7 pct. which is scary. (Feel - 5.00)

What a nice beer. Was it worth $26? Hell no. Did I know it was $26 before I bought it? Hell no. But it was really good and a big one at 18.7 pct. (Overall - 4.25)

16 oz can into a snifter.

It’s come a long way since you’d have to line up for a beer like this, with the hopes of getting one bottle. Now they’re readily available in canned 4-packs. Beer’s just as epic, but with mass production, hype dies down. Still, could drink this all day and all night.

Basically Black Tuesday with a pecan twist, super boozy, sludgy barrel aged stout. Unbelievably tasty brew.

Look: sludgy dark imp stout. Modest mocha head on the pour that mostly disappears.
Smell: all the flavors advertised. Base BT plus pecans and maple syrup.
Taste: like the nose. Up front, the maple is poppin. Awesome roasty fullness of the base stout next. The finish is a killer juxtaposed maple sweet, with roasty fullness.
