On-tap at Reserve Society Party 2012

Dark amber color with minimal off-white head. As with all the Carmens, at least moderate vinegar on the nose. Some sweetness along with a touch of wood. Really not much kiwi going on here. I get more of the dark fruits such as raisins. The flavor is similarly kiwi-less. Lots of dark fruit, wood, and vinegar. Decently tart. Just okay, not really something I’d have again.

On tap at The Reserve Society Initiation Celebration.

A: Black with no head.

S: Chocolate and plum with a good amount of vinegar and light kiwi. Smells pretty nice. Perfumy fruit notes are present.

T: Light kiwi with pronounced prune and plum. Moderate acetic acidity and it's missing the signature acetone and paint thinner we've grown to love with Carmen. Moderate tartness throughout.

M: Upper medium body with lower medium carbonation.

Overall: Best Carmen I've had.

poured a dark brown in color with brown highlights and had almost no head that left almost no lacing sticking to the glass. I was able to detect maple with vinegar notes upfront on the aroma with little to no trace of kiwi fruit, honey, and a little oakiness. The kiwi were a little more apparent on the palate alongside maple, vinegar, and honey notes but with a touch of acidic character. it was medium in body with a low amount of carbonation which had sweet, slight fruity, acidic, and tart finish. this was another interesting variation of carmen that was going down the hatch quite well. Glad to have tried it.
