On Tap (Through a randall)

Black Tuesday 2012
The Bruery
Placentia, CA

The body of the beer is near black throughout, with very dark brown edges, and a very thin dark brown head. The beer leaves only small, tiny bubbles of stick down the glass.

The aroma is an explosive combination of mint, chocolate, roast, and candy bar. This isn't overly sweet, and the mint and chocolate play very nicely together.

The flavor isn't nearly as successful as the aroma. Though roast, chocolate, toffee, and caramel notes shine through, the mint is too powerful, unfortunately reminding me of a toothpaste instead of a world-class barrel-aged stout.

Full in body with very low carbonation. Creamy and decadent.

Not a bad beer, but easily my least favorite of Black Tuesday 2012.

This is Black Tuesday put in a randall with mint leaves. On tap at Provisions for 2012 Black Tuesday. Mini snifter.

A: Pours thick, black, and viscous. Mostly still but with a light tinge of carbonation, and with no head or lacing.

S: Subtle fresh spicy mint leaves, dark chocolate, bourbon and alcohol. Not tons of mint but enough to distinguish.

T: Lots of melted dark chocolate and bourbon, but no mint. Basically just BT, which is fine I guess.

M: Full bodied, light carbonation, and has a noticeable boozy bite. Not nearly as smooth as Grey Monday (but neither is BT).

O: Pretty boozy and not much mint flavor, both of which knock some points. But at least as good as the base beer, which I like.
