On cask for the Bruery Initiation Celebration held at The Phoenix Club in Anaheim, CA.
Pours a clear dark orange with a foamy khaki head that fades to nothing. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of smoked malt, campfire, smoked meat, and chipotle peppers. Taste is much the same with an earthy smoke flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of chipotle heat that lingers on the palate after each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is an interesting experiment but it turned out quite spicy and overbearing.

Tried this one at the Bruery Reserve/Hoarder's Society Initiation Celebration at the Phoenix Club on Feb. 23, 2013.
Smell: The smoke is dominated by the chipotle chile.
Taste: Interesting. I find the chipotle overpowering compared to the smoke flavor, however the smoke is still present. This could be a good pairing for a chipotle rubbed flank steak, or a strong adobado.
Finish: The chipotle was a bit stronger than I felt it should be, but not so much that I didn't like it. A bold approach to bring something new to Rauch.
