Chocolate Rain was served with a coconut and coffee randall in a 4oz taster for $7 at the Bruery. Appearance was not very pleasant. There was no head on the beer. The randall's purpose is to infuse flavors, in this case coconut and coffee, and to reduce foam, making for a faster pour. What I got was a flat looking beer with no head with what appeared to be coconut oil residue on the top. I thought the glass was dirty but my buddy said his was like that too. Aroma was very sweet. Coffee less perceptible than the chocolate and coconut was in the background too. Taste was overwhelmingly sweet at first. The flavors are very rich and just like the scent promised, there was chocolate with coffee in the background. Bourbon notes are very smooth. Farther back there was a tinge of coconut. This drink gets much better as it warms. The sweetness goes away (somewhat) and the roastiness comes through which is the right characteristic of a stout. Coffee becomes more prevalent and coconut almost goes away altogether. Very nice aftertaste and oily coating inside my mouth. A pretty good beer. I wish the standard Chocolate Rain was available as well so one could get a better impression of the original.

May 9th. The month long anniversary of the Bruery brought us this offering at the tasting room. CR through a Randall with coconut and coffee.
Appearance: It's Chocolate Rain. It's dark, barely any head. What head is there disipates in seconds. Yet a slight residue floating innocently on top.
Smell: A fine roast of coffee caresses the nose, full yet graceful. And this said from a person who doesn't drink much coffee.
Taste: Wow. If you've had Chocolate Rain, this is NOT a disappointment. The chocolate, rich, dark, deep is there. The coffee rounds it out with added roastiness, hints of astringency, oh so subtle. But it all melds together soooo beautifully. What a great Thursday surprise. God, I love the Bruery! The cocnut never became obvious, and I'm completely okay with that.
Finish: Elegant, slightly oily, full. I'm in love. My wife understands, she is too.
