The darkest "saison" i've ever seen. Dark brown with light lacing.
Very aromatic. Herbal, malty, yeasty, chocolaty and spicy.
The taste is powerfully rich and delicious. Cabernet, spices and yeast.
Thin to medium mouthfeel with a decent amount of carbonation to just barely justify this being called a saison. I had no idea how high the actual abv was when I was drinking this. 12%??? Wow. The alcohol is extremely well hidden.
An innovative, tasty creation that I hope to try again.

I had the current (3/09) version which I believe was #42. This beer changes with each batch, so what you get may be completely different. This one was spiced with eucalyptus and elderberry. It was a light brown color with a thick head that left nice lacing on the glass. Fairly light clean mouthfeel and a menthol aroma and flavor which was quite unique. The initial menthol flavor quickly dissipated to more of a fruity Saison character, but still lingered in the back of the throat a bit. All in all, an interesting beer with a unique flavor that probably won't appeal to everyone, but is worth a try if you want something different.

I just discovered this amazing brewery nestled at the base of the garden of the gods. What a find! They have six "homebrews" and a slew of "guest brews". These brews are all unique and have special meaning behind them. This saison from what i understand is constantly being re-developed with new and "improved" recipes. This current version has three flowers brewed in with it and provided amazing taste and drinkability. A must try if you're in the area!
