750ml bottle, 2018 release, poured into a 2018 FOFA stemmed glass.

The beer pours a pale straw color, lightly hazy with a thin finger of taut foamy white head, moderate retention with sticky lacing. The aroma is nice, pleasant funk, soft pale grain, soft oakiness, a touch of toasted wood yet lightly fruity and floral. The flavors are good, fruity and crisp funk, lightly earthy with a nice pale grain base that offers a touch of spice, oak barrel, toasty oak that has a light smokiness that accentuates the tartness but doesn't read as ashy or harsh. There is a nice mineral water character and a lingering floral flavor. The mouthfeel is good, coating, crisp medium body, nice and lively that coats well and finishes easily.

Verdict: A nice beer from Hill Farmstead and Tim Clifford. The Grisette base worried me when I read the description and the smoked staves, but this works very well together. It's light, refreshingly tart and well developed. Intriguing and unusual beer.
