Foudre Punch is a party and all of our favorite fruits are invited. After maturing in one of our favorite Foudres – a giant oak aging tank – we blended in Raspberries, Blueberries, Cherries creating a sour beer overflowing with farmhouse funk, fruit flavors and a touch of smooth oak from it’s time in the barrel. Enjoy this juice-box inspired delight with breakfast cereal, duck confit and birthday cake.

With a modern spin on classic farmhouse ale, Almanac rolls off of their favorite brewing tools and tricks into a single sour beer. Blended with raspberries, blueberries and cherries, this beer is a party for the tastebuds.
Dipping into their Foudre Punch reveals a tarnish and tawny golden-rust ale, faintly foamy and laced with a funk and fauna of weathered woods, dried citrus, stewed fruits and a mossy, damp burlap character. Light sweetness is remiss of cobbler and sourdough with a drying grain sweetness and an intensifying sourness. The blending of fruit carries a macerated berry and cherry flavor in a dry jammy way, heading toward a woodsy, nutty and toasty finish of peppery bitterness and an extension of cellar funk.
Medium-light in body, the beer isn't quite a full blown sour ale but isn't quite saison either. It's characterful blend of both types of ale and fruity artistry sets it apart from the fray.

Pours a glowing light orange / peach color with no head. You can certainly smell the sour, but it's not overwhelming. Subtle hints of the berries used in the creation of this beer. As with many stronger sours, it takes a few sips to get past the palate shock and focus on the taste itself. This is really pleasing on the tongue, especially initially. While I can't pick up the individual berry notes, I can definitely tell that this was aged with some fruit. If anything, I can taste the cherry. Aftertastes has a little bit of barnyard funk to it, but just a little. Minimal carbonation. Overall this is a nice & balanced, and is hitting the spot.

A: The beer is slightly hazy pale light red in color; when held up to a bright light there are some particulates floating in suspension along with a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that quickly settled down, leaving some lacing on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of berries—blueberries stand out in particular along with hints of raspberries—are present in the nose.
T: The taste is somewhat sour and has notes of blueberry and raspberry flavors with faint hints of vinegar.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a little tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't that sour and has pleasant flavors of blueberries and raspberries.

Aroma is fruit, tropical fruit and mild vinegar. The flavor is raspberries, fruit, berries, malts and a mix of slight vinegar and tart/sweet in the finish.

375ml bottle split between a pair of small Cantillon glasses. Date is 12/?/2017. Can't read the smudge in the middle.
Pours a pinkish color, clear, with a small head and medium carbonation. Smell is tart and fruity, I get cherry and plum.
Taste is medium tart, strong sweet-tart flavor, fruity and light.
Mouthfeel is light and dry and crisp. Overall, very nice beer.
