This rich Baltic-Style Porter has a complex malt profile with hints of toasted bread, caramel, and mild smokiness. Naturally carbonated with maple syrup and lagered on sugar-maple wood spirals, this beer will keep you warm during the cold winter months.

Before opening this, I had a notion of how it would taste. I was thinking a sweet, chewy, maple laden dessert style lager. Totally incorrect, and happily so. First sips revealed a nice blend of maple hints and smokiness. Excellent start. As it warmed further attributes came forward including a lively carbonation that provided some roast and cocoa. Earthy hops in the finish kept sweetness in check well. In total, this beer's flavors intermingled nicely across its medium bodied feel. This beer was quite drinkable, and I'd be happy to have it again.

Poured from a 16oz can into a CW snifter. It pours a dark brown with a creamy wet sand colored foam cap of about a finger’s worth that dies down to leave a thick collar of the same color around the rim of the glass. Hints of coffee and maple on the nose but it's subtle. I do get hints of chocolate as well as roasted malts in the taste with a light touch of maple on the finish. As it warms, I get some lager yeast on the nose and more maple in the taste but this is not a sticky, sweet mess of a beer at all. Quite well balanced and very drinkable at 9% abv. Medium-full mouthfeel. Good stuff.

Pours thick, black with a three finger head of foam. Aroma is roasted malt, faint maple and caramel. Taste is moderately bodied, very much a porter, with roasted malt foremost and a mild wood taste. I was hoping the maple would be stronger, and I can sense it on some sips, but not others -- odd. Still, and all, a nice porter.

16 oz can into a Teku.
Deep brown, abundant khaki head. The foam settles to a solid, filmy cap.
Smell has an understated maple meets wood note on top of the normal Baltic Porter notes: roast, caramel, and a complex vinous fruit note.
Flavor follows the nose well. Again, the maple sweetness is mild. And the wood note is a most delicate addition.
Mouthfeel is medium and fairly slick. Moderate carbonation.
Overall, a very interesting twist on an old style but executed well.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Pours a clear midnight umber topped by a finger of sandstone foam. The nose comprises toasted biscuit, cocoa powder, a bit of maple syrup, and dried caramel. The taste brings in more of the same, the caramel getting salted and taking a stronger position, but the roastier aspects maintain majority control. The body is a stolid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly drying finish. A nice baltic made all the nicer by the addition of the maple.

Dark, near black with adequate foam in the snifter. Intriguing aroma of candy and chocolate. I didn't notice the ABV when I was pouring this, and was surprised not to notice the alcohol in the first few tastes. Dark and rich flavors with burnt sugar and caramel. The maple flavors are interesting and add to the nose.
Sweet and sticky, reminds me of toffee with a shot of coffee. An interesting alternative to a Russian Imperial Stout. Quite sippable but very sugary. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine. No apparent date.

only had a few bees from this brewery - but they all have been great - this porter is great maple taste without it being too much smooth porter malt flavor

Yeah, feeling this well and good. Smooth like Diego Maradona zig zagging before kicking one into the net. Yep. Enegren shoots and scores like Raul did the night he met his baby mama.
Peace!

Didn’t plan on picking up any more beer after spending way too much earlier in the day, but still picked up some more as this one caught my eye. I think Enegren does one hell of a job and this seemed to follow with the description of, “This rich Baltic-Style Porter has a complex malt profile with hints of toasted bread, caramel, and mild smokiness. Naturally carbonated with maple syrup and lagered on sugar-maple wood spirals, this beer will keep you warm during the cold winter months.”
Poured a very dark, practically pitch black color with 2-to-3 fingers of dark khaki frothy head. Lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Excellent uneven foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled maple syrup, toasted bread, caramel, toffee, cocoa, toasted brown sugar and light chocolate. Almost as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.50)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order got toasted bread, unsalted pretzel, maple syrup, caramel, cocoa, roasted barley, toffee and light bitter chocolate. Tasted more like 6.1 pct. than 9.1 pct. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Slightly toasty finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Just a world-class Baltic Porter overall. Loved it. (Overall - 4.50)

Pours deep dark chocolate with frothy velvety head. Strong notes of maple and chocolate. Very smooth with very little bite... nice Porter.
