German malts give Foliage Autumn Pale Lager its copper color and full body, while American Cascade and Chinook hops add a snappy pine and citrus kick. We don't know if they had a beer like this at the first Thanksgiving, but dammit, they should have.

It’s an IPL. A lot of people would love it. I find it fairly good. Another overly hopped “quality” beer. This brewer is great though.

I interpreted this lager as an American take on a Vienna. Looks and malts lead me in this direction. Whatever the case, this was excellent. Broad flavors abound here with toffee, caramel, and graham cracker bearing the malt banner while a fairly significant earthy and bitter hop bite comes in the finish destroying any cloying factors. This is how I want my lager, and Enegren delivered in spades. Highly recommend. The best offering from these guys I've tried, and all are good.

This looks like it should be an awesome lager but for me it was just pretty good. It has a metallic finish that spoils the initial malt and crispness. Of course I don't drink a lot of lagers, but I have had some that were better than this one.

Tall can for $3.99 at BottleCraft in North Park. No canning date and definitely marked up bc of the vendor and location. Not mad as I’ve never seen this one but if it shows up at TJs I’ll be upset (like Nighthawk). Beautiful amber orange color. Sweet malty nose that invites you in. Almost spiced but not in an additive way. Looks and aromas definitely scream autumn. Did not know this was a hoppy lager when I poured it but the subtle piney hop character comes through, especially in the flavor. Truly well balanced. This is unique and delicious, would buy again (but at a more reasonable TJs 4-pack price).

Pours an effervescent honey/amber with a thumb of sand colored head. Very good head retention & lacing

S: Bready/toasty, some grassy notes

T: Follows the nose, a little caramel presence, fairly dry & some woody hop notes as well up front. Toasty & piney notes as this beer warms up, along with a little bit of citrus & leafy hops. Dry piney finish

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, lovely balance

A very Modern American Lager that really worked for me, super drinkability

Pours golden amber semi clear with big white frothy crown on draught at Enegren brewery in Morepark. Light bread malt and hops on the nose, bursting with nice chinook and cascade hops make this Lager feel like a nice IPA ale at 6% ABV and 46 IBU.

Gorgeous coppery amber color with plenty of foam in the New Belgium snifter. Spritzy mouthfeel with smooth malty body. Aromatic with roast grain, even a slight whiff of smoke. Starts out with the roast malt like it's going to be an Oktoberfest, but the bitter aftertaste makes it taste more like a Pale Ale.

Overall this is a highly quaffable but very complex. It's a really hoppy lager, and more bitter than you might expect. The slightly sweet caramel starts every sip just to keep things interesting. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine Y Vine. Not dated.

Talk about balance, this one is like Kate Upton’s jumbos roaming free. I mean, it’s about as straight as a ruler - nothing bad going on here. Foliage is like Zack de la Rocha screaming, “Bulls on parade!” Awoooooo!

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American Pale Lager
Glass: Gordon Biersch .5L Stein
Price: $11.19 for a 4-pack
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 16, 2020
Consumed: Dec. 16, 2020
Misc.: No canned on date

Specifically went to Windmill Farms because I saw that some new Enegren dropped in San Diego. Was looking for this and (more) for an oatmeal stout. It appears they changed the recipe to this one, which went from an American Pale Ale to an American Pale Lager. Untappd description read, “Our famous Foliage Pale Ale was reincarnated into Foliage American Pale Lager. Orange in color with sweet toffee, caramel and malty flavors complimented by clean citrus bitterness and aroma.” Back of the can, meanwhile, read, “German malts give Foliage Autumn Pale Lager its copper color and full body, while American Cascade and Chinook hops add a snappy pine and citrus kick. We don't know if they had a beer like this at the first Thanksgiving, but dammit, they should have.”

Poured a medium copper clear color with four fingers of rocky-to-frothy off-white head. Could see some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent uneven lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled sweet toffee, caramel malt, nuts, pine, wood, Chinook, Cascade, dish soap and hints of rye spice. Not quite as good out of the can, but got some earthy pilsner-like malt. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted about as good as the nose. In order got sweet toffee, caramel, brown bread, bitter woody pine, Chinook, Cascade, bitter soap and hints of rye spice. Autumn Pale Lager really nails the beer. (Taste - 4.25)

Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Clean, crisp finish. Really went down fast and clean. (Feel - 5.00)

Just another excellent offering from these guys. They can do no wrong. (Overall - 4.25)
